Once upon a time there was a lonely frog named 

Tim.   Tim had no friends and no family, but lived 

near only lions. Tim would see the big, ferocious 

lions all the time but he knew they could never be 

his friends. He thought if they ever saw him they 

would surely eat him.

Tim always avoided the Lions as much as possible 

because of his deep fear of being eaten. One day 

Tim was going about his business like usual, when 

suddenly he heard a terrifying roar that seemed far 

to close to him.

Tim was so scared that he could not move right 

away!   He looked up into the enormous, shining 

eyes of the lion, shaking with fear. 

Then, to Tim’s utmost surprise, the lion spoke to 

him kindly.   “Hello, my name is Jafeer” said the 

lion.  

It took Tim a second to speak up but he finally 

spoke back.   “Hi, I’m Tim.”

“What are you doing all by yourself all the time? I 

have seen you many time all alone” said the Jafeer.  

“Really?” asked Tim,   “I always thought if you saw 

me you would eat me!”

Jafeer laughed loudly at that and said “That’s 

ridiculous, lions don’t eat frogs!   Lions would never 

eat a frog, in fact we love frogs!”

Tim was shocked, all this time he was afraid for 

nothing! “Wow!” said Tim.   “I am so happy to hear 

that, I have been wanting to meet some friends 

for a very long time.”

“Well now you have one” said Jafeer.   “I hope you 

don’t assume that everything wants to eat you all 

the time!” 

Tim laughed, “well now I know that sometimes 

appearances can be deceiving.”

Jafeer and Tim went on to become great friends.   Tim 

could not be happier with his new friend and lesson he 

learned.
