Animal Adaptations

Have you ever noticed how animals in different parts of the world look so different from one another?

Animals have different bodies, shapes, and sizes based on their environment and specific needs.

These different characteristics help the animal to protect themselves from predators, obtain food, and survive in their environment. This is called Animal Adapation.

All kinds of animals adapt to their specific environment. Let's look at a few animals that have adapted to their environment and learn what characteristics, or adaptations, help them survive.

The polar bear has thick fur and blubber to keep it warm in the cold Arctic environment and his feet are large to help him walk through the snow. His white fur also helps him to blend into the snow to avoid being seen by predators.
