I have learned quite a lot from researching this cancer advocate. One of the things I learned is that you cannot just want to fight for something. Instead of just fighting for something, you need to have experience. You also need to know how it feels to go through something and want to change that. I hope the young people that read this will learn a few things as well. I hope that they learn about the struggles of cancer. I also think that they will learn some information on it as well. Any child that reads this I hope starts to get even more curious about things happening to them also.

Hello there! I am here to tell the story of a woman. This woman is Vicky Davis! Vicky Davis is 60. She has been married for a long time! 32 years to be exact. She and her husband have been at each other's side for a very long time. She works with something called a women's program, that helps others.

Vicky Davis was diagnosed with something called cancer. Cancer is a disease, or a sickness, caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. This means that things called cells, that make up our body, continue to make more cells non-stop, and causes problems inside of us. Her cancer was also HER2-positive. HER2-positive cancer helps the growth of cancer cells. In about 1 of every 5 breast cancers, the cancer cells have something wrong with them that makes a lot of the HER2 protein. Along with having cancer, she struggled very much with depression and anxiety. The cancer only made those feelings bigger as it continued.
Cancer is not a very easy thing to deal with. Vicky Davis had tests that found 2 lumps in her left breast. She had something called a mastectomy. A mastectomy is surgery to remove breasts. She had a mastectomy to remove her left breast and 18 lymph nodes from her left arm. Lymphs are a colorless fluid that has white blood cells, which bathes the tissues and drains through the lymphatic system into the bloodstream. Lymph nodes are each of a number of small swellings in the lymphatic system where lymph is filtered and lymphocytes are made. Five lymph nodes were found to have cancer, as well as 3 tumors in her breast. Surgery was followed by 25 treatments of radiation. Radiation is the creation of energy as electric waves. Because of all of this, Vicky Davis wanted to help others with cancer, which made her something called an advocate that helps others with a problem or stands up for a cause.
