Theodor had a lot of conflict in his life. He had problems like financial trouble, rejection, discrimination, and even ran into some trouble with authority. Throughout his life he struggled with money even when he was young his family was very poor. But that didn't stop Therdor from going to college and living his life. Also another problem he faced was with getting his books published. His first book was rejected by twenty-seven publishers, this was a setback for him because he got frustrated by the book and thought it would never get published. Then it was accepted by Vanguard press to get published. Would he ever get another book published again? These were the thoughts going through his mind.
Theodor before he joined the war he made posters for the treasury department and the war production board. But by 1943, Geisel wanted to do more, so he joined the U.S. Army. On January 7, 1943, Theodor Geisel reported for duty, Leaving behind his New York apartment as well as his career. Therdor drew over 400 editorial cartoons for the left-leaning tabloid newspaper. American government enlisted the illustrator in the war effort by having him draw cartoons that urged the conservation of resources. He also worked alongside Warner Bros animation directors Chuck Jones and Friz Freleng in creating cartoon shorts. The shorts were trying to educate people about the war and the people in it.
