Once there was a field of beautiful sunflowers gently swaying in the breeze. when the sun would rise and shine on them, their bright yellow brown faces would lift up, turn to it and smile all day. and when the night came, the sunflowers would bow their heads in slumber.
But there was a sunflower that was very sad and lonely. It didn't matter that it was surrounded by many other sunflowers. He never wanted to raise his head no matter how bright the sun shone. Unfortunately, growing beside him was a nasty little weed who was very jealous of the beautiful sunflowers that were beckoned by the mighty sun every day.
I can't blame you for keeping your head down, said the nasty little weed to the sad sunflower. every other flower towers over you and they are much bigger and brighter than you are.
It must be true. said the sad sunflower. I doubt the sun would ever take notice of me. even when i try to lift my head, i can't. the jealous weed smiled in approval. a strong wind blew and the weed desperately held on to his fluff. secretly he wished to have strong bright petals like the sunflower.

that afternoon, dark, menacing clouds shadowed over the field. rolling thunder followed by lightning lit up the expanse sky. the sunflower field was pelted hard by rain. they all huddled close and kept their heads down through the storm. suddenly it hailed! oh nO! they cried. how will we survive? The sad sunflower fought hard to stay alive. the howling winds and deafening thunder made it nearly impossible. i must do something! cried the sunflower. the nasty jealous weed lashed out at him. what can you do? Nobody even cares you exist! the sunflower felt angry at his words.
