Jolynn Bloom was very clever,

No-one could outsmart her, no, never-ever.

And in the year 2020,

Jolynn had great ideas aplenty.

Because on the night of the 14th of June,

History was made in the household of Bloom.

At first no-one knew except for Jolynn,

So I want to tell you before we begin

That it was a big secret, the thing that she made

And if Mamma knew, she'd be very afraid.

Jolynn had invented a new time machine

Which she hid in her closet so it wouldn’t be seen.

But on that night while all were asleep,

She went to her closet and took a long peek.

She knew it was risky to actually use,

And she wasn’t quite sure which year she would choose.

The past could be fun, but so could the future,

And she wondered which year would actually suit her.

In the end she decided to first try the past

Because castles and knights might just be a blast.

So she opened the door to her new time machine,

Stepped in and pushed buttons, first red and then green.

She set the time dial to 1504,

Then made sure to close tight the Time Machine door.

She realized at once she must pick a location,

So she decided that England would be the right nation.

She typed in London on the ‘Place-Choosing’ screen,

In the hopes she might meet a king or a queen.

The time machine started to rumble and shake,

And she hoped that her family wouldn’t awake.

Then suddenly there was a big flash of light,

And she held on to the wall with all of her might.

She felt herself flying right through the air,

After which she crash-landed on her derriere.

Her foot kicked open the Time Machine door,

And she rubbed on her back which was really quite sore.

Just there right in front of where she sat,

Was a frightened boy in a green coat and a hat.

His mouth had dropped open and his eyes were quite wide,

And she thought that maybe from her he would hide.

“Don’t be scared,” she said. “I’m from the future.”

But he screamed right out loud and she thought he would boot her.

“’tis a witch, ‘tis a witch!” he started to yell.

“Black magic’s upon us! Ring the church bell!”

And with his screams, a large crowd came and gathered,

And she wished the poor boy hadn’t shouted and blabbered.

More and more people were crowding around

Picking up weapons and sticks from the ground.

“I’m not a witch!” yelled Jolynn. “I’m just a child!

"There’s no need for you all to act this wild!

"What you see here in front of you is science not magic!

"If you don’t put those down now, things could turn tragic!”"

But they paid no attention. They all cried “It’s a Witch!”

And Jolynn began to cower and flinch.

To make her escape, her machine had to work,

But it needed five hours to regenerate the Blurk.

The Blurk was a special thing-a-ma-bob,

That Jolynn had invented to finish the job.

Then suddenly a voice chimed up from the crowd,

And a knight in his armor came up and then bowed.

The people all hushed to see what he’d do.

Some thought with his sword he might just run her through.

The knight grabbed her arm and pulled her away.

“You Witch!” he yelled out. “You’re arrested this day!”

He dragged her right past all the menacing people

Toward a big church with a towering steeple.

They turned a corner where no people were

Then he lifted his helmet and spoke directly to her.

“You’ve come from the future! Thank goodness you’re here!

"I’ve been trapped in this time period for many a year!”

“You are?” she cried out. “Then I’m not the first!

"You got here before me. Oh, this is the worst!”

Said the knight, “I didn’t get here in a machine.

"A space time conduit opened up where I’d been.

"It flung me through space right from my bed,

"And I woke up at a castle, in the blacksmith’s shed.”

“A space time conduit?” said Jolynn crinkling her brow.

“That’s mighty strange. So, the question is: how?

"What year are you from that such things exist?”

And the knight leaned in and said “2106.”

“Then you’re from my future,” said Jolynn with a gasp.

“You’ve come further than me into the past.

"And why could this conduit not take you back?”

“Because,” said the knight, “it was under attack.

"When I came through the conduit, lasers were firing.

"My enemies have always been busy conspiring

"To send me somewhere that I couldn’t be found

"And that way they prevented me from being crowned.”

“Crowned what?” said Jolynn. “Are you a prince of some kind?”

“Yes,” said the knight. “But it was a bit of a grind."

But before they could say more, the church bells began ringing.

And the knight yelled out, “Run! The witch bells are dinging!”

So the two went running down a cobblestoned street,

Which for the knight in his armor proved a difficult feat.

His boots clanged loudly against the stone,

And with each step the knight let out a small groan.

Chasing them from behind was a menacing crowd,

Who yelled, “Get her! Ger her!” in voices quite loud.

The two ducked into a castle door

And hid from the crowd who ran by with a roar.

"So what now?" said Jolynn feeling unsteady.

"My Blurk needs five hours before it is ready."

"What's a Blurk?" said the Knight. "Is that how you came?"

"It powers my time machine, and that's what it's named."

"That must be what came before the Con-blurk-o-matic.

"They've improved quite a lot because the old ones caused static."

"A Con-blurk-o-matic? That name's a bit queer."

"It opens space conduits. Which is how I am here.

"It was invented by a company called Bloom Enterprises

"Those Con-blurk-o-matics come in all sorts of sizes."

"But I am a Bloom. You mean I'll invent that?"

"You invented it? You little Brat!"

"Brat?" said Jolynn. "You think I'm a Brat?

"Just 'cause in the future, I'll invent that?

"I can see that you and I need a little chat!"

But just then the knight hit the floor with a splat.

A big burly man had pushed him down,

And said quite loudly, "A ha! You've been found!"

He grabbed Jolynn's arm and said "Come with me!

"You're the one the king wants to see!"

And before Jolynn knew it, she had been shown

to the room where the king waited by his throne.

"So you're the one!" the king said with a sneer.

"You're the one who can magically appear!

"You're the witch who showed up in my land!

"And witches here are strictly banned!"

"You know what we do with witches, my dear?

"We punish them in ways that are very severe!"

"Severe?" said Jolynn. "How severe do you mean?"

"We burn them right up in some gasoline!"

And Jolynn at once felt disoriented

'cause gasoline shouldn't have yet been invented.

"Wait! What?" said Jolynn. "But it's 1504.

"Gasoline isn't something you can buy at the store!

"And that's a fact I just can't ignore!"

"Be quiet!" said the King with a gigantic roar.

"I won't!" said Jolynn. "You are just like me!

"You're either from the future or a witch, don't you see?"

But then the knight burst in with a scream,

saying, "Quick you must come! It's your time machine!

"The people will ruin it! We must go now!

"You must run and get to your machine somehow!"

And the King said, "Wait! I will come with you!

Because I'm from the future, and I can help you too!"

And the three went running right out of the castle,

which for the knight in his armor was still quite a hassle.

And when they got there, the people were gathered

around the Blurk which lay there all broken and shattered.

"Oh no!" said Jolynn. "What will we do now?

"Vandalizing Blurks should be disallowed!"

"Clear away! Clear away!" ordered the king to the people.

"Go away over there underneath the church steeple!"

And Jolynn sat down and worked on the Blurk

But unfortunately the stupid thing just wouldn't work.

And she wondered what her Mamma and Daddy would think.

If she didn't come home, they'd put up a big stink.

Then suddenly she saw her machine start to shake,

And the ground around them began to quake.

And a space time conduit opened up from above

Out of which stepped Denton holding a Blurk in his glove
