Once upon a time there was a farmer who grew healthy vegetables on his farm with his family.

The farmer loved growing food that was healthy for his little town. The towns people enjoyed eating fresh food that was healthy.

Although the farmer grew healthy foods, he had a daughter who hated to eat healthy.

Not only did she hate eating healthy she never liked to go outside and play. She liked to play games and watch videos all day on her iPod.

Because the daughter did not like being active and eating healthy, she started to gain weight and become less sociable at school.
This food looks yucky!
The teacher started to worry about her physical and mental development. "Good nutrition is linked to energy and activity levels, and mental and physical performance" (Groark & Song, 2012, sec. 1.2).

So, the teacher talked with her about her eating habits and told her five ways that could help her do better in school and help her to become more active.

The teacher shared the importance of eating nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables and how they can help give her the right amount of energy she needs to stay fit.

She also told her that drinking sugary soda drinks could also play a major part in the amount of energy she had. She encouraged her to drink at least 8 oz. of water every meal which can help her stay healthy and hydrated. "A negative habit may be to have a high-calorie drink such as sugary soda with every meal" (Groark & Song, 2012, sec. 1.2).

The teacher also explained to her the importance of staying active. Getting outside and running around could help her stay fit as well as help improve the relationship she had with her friends.
