"I'm so proud of my hubby, Chicago P.D.'s newest police officer." "Thanks hon. To be honest with you, I'm a little nervous." "That's only natural Officer Valencia." "Officer Valencia. I sure do like the sound of that" Russell replied. BEEP! BEEP! "Sounds like my new partner is here. Wish me luck!" "Good luck and stay safe out there! I've always wanted to say that." "I think you watch too many cop shows on TV" Valencia chuckled before he kissed his wife on the way out the door for his first day on the job.

"Good morning Officer Valencia. I'm Officer Grace. Welcome to the Chicago P.D." "Thank you sir. So it looks like we'll be patrolling the streets together." "Oh, I'm not your new partner. He's waiting in the car. I had to bring him here because he's too young to drive." "Wait, what?" a stunned Valencia replied. "I think you guys are really gonna hit it off. He's tough and a little stubborn but fair. Stay safe." "How bizarre" Valencia thought to himself. "Oh well, time to meet the new partner."

Valencia opened the door to find a baby sitting in the front seat. "Hilarious! What a great prank on my first day. Well played Officer Grace. Alright, let's get going. Officer Grace? You still here?" "He wasn't joking. I am your new partner." "Who said that?" "Down here Valencia." It was the baby. "I'm Officer Thomas Harrington but you can call me Tommy." "But you're a baby!!!!" "Maybe so but I'm not your typical baby."

"I'm what you would call a child prodigy. I collared my first perp when I was only 10 minutes old. I helped the police capture the leader of Chicago's most notorious crime family who was posing as a nurse. As she passed me over to my mother, I noticed a curious tattoo on her right wrist. It was a symbol well-known throughout the criminal underworld." "And you noticed all of this mere moments after being born?" Valencia asked with his mouth wide open. "I know, pretty hard to believe but it's all true. Here's my story......"

"I am the first born son of Dr. Rufus Harrington, Ph.D and Dr. Beatrice Benson-Harrington, also a Ph.D. They are both highly educated psychologists and academics who teach Psychology at Harvard. While I was still in the womb, my mother would read her clinical psychology books to me. She's authored over 20 books on criminal behavior and other similar topics. Between her work and my Dad's meticulously detailed research, I must've read over 100 books. Secondhand of course. When I was born I guess my career path had been chosen for me."
BANK OF CHICAGO

"Attention all units, we have a robbery in process at The Bank of Chicago" a voice called out from the police car. "This is Officer Harrington. My partner and I are in the vicinity and will respond. Over!" "10-4!" "What's going on?" a confused Valencia wondered. "Bank robbery. Get in and drive. We're in a hurry so I'll buckle myself into the car seat." The officers sped through town arriving at within minutes at The Bank of Chicago. "Alright Valencia, you keep the public away from the scene while I take care of this." "You?" "I have seniority Valencia." "No disrespect, but you're a baby!" "I'm 15 months old actually, now do as I say!"

Following a series of loud noises, Valencia decided to storm into the bank. "How could I just let a baby go into such a dangerous situation all alone?" he thought to himself. When he got inside he saw that Officer Harrington had managed to capture one of the robbers. "Okay punk, who do you work for?" But the robber remained silent. "You don't want to get on my bad side now give me their names!" Instead the robber tried to pinch Harrington's chubby cheeks only to be swiftly subdued by the pint-sized policeman. "Ow! You're hurting me!" the thug cried. Trapped in a painful arm lock, the robber revealed where the bandits' hideout was.

The officers arrived at an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of Chicago. "This could be a set-up so I'll go in first and you follow my lead" Harrington instructed. "Wait a second. They gave you a gun?" "Not a real one. Mine makes bubbles. See!" Harrington said with an adorable giggle. The officers approached the front door where Harrington pounded on the door and shouted, "Chicago P.D.! Open up!" But there was no response so Valencia broke down the door with his shoulder. "Let's split up. Let me know if you find anything and if you don't, yell 'clear.' Got it?" "Yes Sir!" Hold on, did Valencia just refer to a toddler as 'Sir'? How much weirder could this day get for the rookie cop?

After searching every room, the officers came up empty-handed. "Looks like that robber was pulling our leg" Valencia said. "Hold on, what's this? A red bow-tie and it's attached to a note." "Let me see that bow tie!" Harrington demanded. "This looks so familiar to me but I can't place it." "The note says that this was more than just a robbery and if you ever want to find Banjo The Bear in one piece you'll back off. Who's Banjo?" "Um Valencia, can I have a moment to myself?" "Sure thing" Valencia nodded as he left the room. Moments later Harrington began to wail like a gassy baby. It got so loud that Valencia had to plug his ears.

After a few moments of awkward silence, Valencia decided to make a little small talk with his partner. "So, um, you married or something like that?" Harrington glared at an embarrassed Valencia before continuing to stare at the bow-tie. "Oh right, you're an infant. Do you mind me asking what's so special about that bear?" "If you must know I promised to hold onto it until a friend I met in the nursery gets out of the hospital." Feeling uncomfortable Valencia promised not to ask any more questions. "Turn left here" Harrington ordered. "Why here?" "Turn left!" "Okay Harrington!" a flummoxed Valencia replied.

'DA BAR'

The road that Valencia was taking took him into one of the rougher parts of Chicago. At the end of the street was a notorious tavern known as 'Da Bar.' It was the watering hole for some of Chicago's meanest, nastiest characters. Needless to say, the police were not very popular at this establishment. "Uh, Harrington, you do know we're pulling into the parking lot of a bar." "I need some information and one of my sources is a regular here." "We can't go in there in uniform. Besides, how are you going to get in? You're a baby!" "Don't worry. It's all taken care of." "Huh?" Valencia shrugged.
