Once upon a time,

In a little town filled with sunshine.

Lives our little Mitten

In her litter of five kittens.

Her brothers and sisters,

With their meows and their purrs,

They pounced and they played,

While Mitten just layed.

Confused and afraid,

Because her whole world was shade,

The light and the color

About which her siblings all told her,

Mittens couldn't see,

She was blind, as it would be.

She was angry and mad,

Since she couldn't understand,

Why she was so different,

When her other siblings weren't.

She longed, everyday, to be normal,

To see the world, all bright and colorful.

Her siblings were kind,

But they often paid her no mind,

Not mean, not a bully

But they didn't understand her fully.

They were glad not to be,

Just like her, unable to see

With no role to play,

Just a kitten alone on the fray.

But one day at the park,

Mitten heard a quiet bark.

"Oh listen, Oh look!"

She meowed as she shook.

But her siblings, who checked,

Couldn't find a suspect.

Mitten was assured,

She knew what she'd heard.

While her siblings denied her,

She started to stir.
