Maxwell made this book as an example for my Berkeley High School grammar students to see. I'm proud of him for his hard work and willingness to help. I love you, Max!
Mom

Once upon a time, there was a lonely hippo. He didn’t have anything. He didn’t even have a name.
As the years went by, he was always exploring and finding other hippos but none of them ever invited him into their group. When this happened, he would always walk away with a very sad face.

One time, a pack of hyenas snuck up on him, but he was so focused on exploring and finding other hippos that he didn’t even notice them. The hyenas snuck closer and closer, and he still didn’t see them. Eventually, the hyenas got bored and decided it wasn’t worth it to wait for the hippo to finally stop exploring and lay down so that they could attack.
