Eastern State Penitentiary Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Information by Jazzmine Carlisle
It opened up more than 180 years ago and was known for the strict discipline there. It was the worlds' first actual penitentiary. Some notable inmates are Victor Babe, convicted of murder, and Scare Face, Chicago's most famous mob boss. His real name is Alpha Capone. He spent his months there in luxury. Scar face was there for eight months, and Victor was there for life.

In the Queen Anne Hotel in California, there is a ghost that lurks and haunts in room 104. Normally when someone talks about ghosts people get scared but apparently, the ghost of Mary Lake is very different. People have stated that the ghost unpacks stuff for them. When they wake up the luggage is repacked so they can leave and not have to pack up. There also have been reports that fallen pillows have been put back on the bed and that she tucks the person sleeping in 410 in at night and sings the theme song. She cleans up room 104 and keeps whoever is inside the room safe and protects them. Supposedly this is a friendly ghost that people are not afraid of and others don't mind sleeping in there. This has been an interesting ghost as she originally lived there taking care of children so she still takes care of people even in the grave.

Winchester Mystery House in San Jose California
This house is a big mansion with many twists and turns. The owner of the house Sarah, bought a house with 8 rooms but she kept adding onto the house. When she died the mansion was very big: 160 rooms, 47 stairways and fireplaces, 6 kitchens, 2,000 doors, and it was 24,000 square feet. No one really knows why Sarah kept building onto the house or why it was built so weirdly. This weird house would cost 71 million dollars if it was built today.

Stull Cemetery in Stull, Kansas
Some people believe that this cemetery is a gate to hell. This burned out the church is supposedly haunted because this is where Satan comes to visit the grave of his child. In the '70s a student published a newspaper article stating that the devil haunts this town every night and that there were witches who went to that church before it burnt down. Every year people vandalize the cemetery thinking it's a portal to hell even though its just a legend.

Luna Mansion in Los Lunas,New Mexico
information by Wynter Figueroa
The Luna Mansion was built in 1880 by the Santa Fe Railroad Company. It is known for its great steaks, hot chili, and great deserts; but that’s not all it’s known for. It’s also renowned for its resident ghosts. Legend has it that in the 1970s was when the ghost of Josefina began to appear. Employees have described ghost Josefita as being very real, dressed in 1920s period clothing. Josefina has also been seen in the two bedrooms on the second floor, an attic storeroom, and at the top of the stairs leading to the second floor.

Lizzie Borden House.
I don't necessarily think her house was haunted; it was just a mystery crime honestly, the place is huge. I wouldn’t think someone like her could have murdered her parents just because there’ no facts that they didn’t have a good relationship. It's just a conspiracy but you can prove it. To me it seems like a lot of what she says; he says. But maybe it could have been a ghost. I do think ghosts and spirit things are real, but I'm not scared of them. Lizzie Borden was arrested and charged with the horrific murder of her father and stepmother, which both were ax to death. Lizzie never found not guilty because there's no hard rock evidence against her.

Dock Street Theatre in North Charleston, South Carolina
BY Alexis Ruff
The theatre opened on February 12, 1736. The Dock Street Theatre was the first building in America to be used exclusively for theatrical performance. The place became haunted by this lady that they referred to as Nettie took her life by, purposely leaning over the balcony and falling to commit suicide. The theatre burned down and was turned into a hotel called “Planters Hotel” which was built at the same stop where the theatre was at. The 1886 earthquake in Charleston ruined the hotel so, they turned it back into a theatre. The Dock Street Theatre now is not only haunted by ghosts but, by a prominent actor from the 19th century who worked and frequented the hotel. The original place that the Dock Street Theatre was on is still haunted to this day.

information By: Cassidy This penitentiary is known to be very haunted. The history behind this penitentiary is pretty crazy. They locked the prisoners up in a cell and they were not able to talk to anyone or see anyone all day. The prisoners ended up going insane. Just imagine what it would be like to get a death sentence and not be able to talk to anyone for the rest of your life. And a lot of them started to commit suicide because of that. There was a disease going around too and that´s one of the causes for deaths in there also. Prisoners would get punished very harshly. There was one prisoner who complained about a ghost being in his cell and talking to him.

In the great state of New Jersey outside of their cities lay a huge forest called the Pinelands. The Pinelands is home to many ghost towns that all use to be thriving villages that were home to cranberry farms and legends. Disaster would strike the area in the mid-1900s and a great fire would cause many villages to burn to the ground. Today only legends remain about the area and how that great fire could occur, the area is deserted with only a few pieces of structures that remain from the fire and small new villages that contain people to this day.

The Ohio State Reformatory The Ohio State Reformatory was built in 1886 by Cleveland architect Levi Coalfield. But first held inmates in 1896. The Reformatory was called the ‘’intermediate Penitentiary.' Because they exempted inmates that were too young for juvenile corrections. The goal of the Reformatory was ‘’reform’’ and rehabilitate their inmates. The Reformatory had high success rates with OSR. Religion, education, and trade. Inmates were admitted for 18 months. By the early 1960s, the state pulled its financial support from the Reform model. In 1990 the Reformatory closed down. by Austin Kessing
