Lucy Loved bunnies, and she hoped to have one of her own some day. She begged and begged her parents until they finally gave in. On her seventh birthday, Lucy's parents gave her two girl bunnies. Lucy named them Lily and Sparkles.

Lucy took very good care of her bunnies, and her parents were so proud. Her bunnies were happy and played together all day long. They would only sleep cuddled up together, and they purred happily all day.

Lucy's friend from school, Johnny, had a pet bunny named Clover. Johnny said he was getting a dog and was looking for a home for Clover. Lucy went home and asked her parents if she could be Clover's new owner. Because she had taken such great care of her other bunnies, her parents agreed.

Lucy was so excited that her girl bunnies could finally have a boyfriend! She thought they would be so happy. Lily and Sparkles liked Clover, but not like they liked each other. They were always together, and Clover didn't mind.

Lucy didn't understand why Lily and Sparkles didn't want to be Clover's girlfriend. "I know!", she thought. "I'll put Sparkles in a separate cage! Then Clover and Lily can date!"

Sparkles and Lily didn't want to eat or play anymore. Lucy thought they looked sad, so she called for her mother to help. She told her that she had separated the bunnies so that Clover could be Lily's boyfriend.

Lucy's mom explained that Lily and Sparkles were sad because they couldn't be together. "They don't need Clover to be their boyfriend", she explained. "Lily and Sparkles might want to be girlfriends".
