Today we are going to learn about shapes!
This is a cup, a cup is a cylinder!
There are many different shapes and they are all different! Some a small, some are tall, some are fat and some are skinny! There are even shapes around us!
2d shapes
2d shapes are flat shapes! Some have 3 sides, some have 0 and some have 8! There are many 2d shapes. Flat shapes are called 2d shapes, they have sides that meet together to make a shape.

Some shapes have straight sides, others have curved, some may have both!

This shape is a square and has straight sides.


This shape is a circle and has curved sides.
This shape is a semi-circle and has straight and curved sides!
Regular and irregular shapes
A regular shape is a shape with all the sides and corners equal. An irregular shape doesn't have equal sides or equal corners.

3d shapes
A 3d shape is a solid shape that is not flat. They have corners, sides and faces! But a sphere is a 3d shape without sides or corners! There are some 3d shapes on the right.
