Once upon a time there was a family of field mice living together in a cozy nest in a big red barn.  One morning Papa mouse tried to stretch his tired tail.  “Ouch,” cried his three baby mice.  Papa Mouse said “There is not enough room for all you little mice!  It’s time for you to leave and find your own spots in the barn.”  So the three little mice packed up their things from the cozy nest.

That same day the three mice went out looking for new spots in the barn.  The first little mouse started off towards the chicken coop.  He looked at all the feathers lying on the ground.  “They would make a comfy home,” he thought.  He quickly built a feather house.   There was also a big mean cat that lived in the barn.  He was getting hungry and decided to find himself a nice mouse dinner.  He went to the chicken coop and thought to himself, “I bet I can find a nice mouse dinner here.  Little mouse, let me come in!” the cat said nicely.  “No! No!” said Little Mouse.  So with one little puff the cat blew down the feather house.  The first little mouse scampered away to find his brothers.

The second little mouse wandered off towards the horse stable.  He spotted some nice fresh straw.  He thought, “Straw will make a nice house.”  He gathered up some straw and built his house.  Just as he was finished his first brother came rushing in.  “Watch out for the CAT!” he cried.  The two little mice quickly went into the second little mouse’s new house.  The Big Bad Cat was prowling outside.  He smelled the trail of the first little mouse. “Little Mice, let me come in!” he said with a smirk.  “No, no!”, cried the mice.  This made the cat mad.  He took a big huff and with one puff blew the straw house down.  Both mice just managed to escape.  They headed to find their other brother and warn him of the Big Bad Cat.
