It was July 4, 1776. Or it was soon to be at least. It was actually the year of 2053, I had just cracked the code of time travel and I was ready to test it out. Or so I thought. 

My name is Albert Smith. I decided to go back 277 years, five days, and thirty eight minutes. Yes, it was the day the Declaration of Independence was signed. Traveling through time seems complicated, but it's not. The only side effects to it is nausea and dizziness. It takes sixty seconds to travel 277 years, five days, and thirty eight minutes, but it feels like an hour. 

 I had reached Independence Hall in Philadelphia. I was shaking with excitement. I was going to see the Declaration of Independence be signed. Seeing our country stand up for itself was amazing. I was sitting beside John Hancock when the timer went off.

The timer. I had completely forgotten about it. Me, the person who had cracked time travel had lost track of time. Just as John Hancock sat back down to talk with me some more, I stood up. "Where are you going by kind sir?" he asked me. "I have to go." I said. "Well, see you later." He replied. He went to shake my hand, but I had already sprinted out of the room, the doors swinging closed behind me. I ran to the time machine, tears forming in my eyes. I couldn't be stuck here, I can't live in 1776.  The time machine started up, whizzing and hovering in the air. I ran as hard as I could, gasping for air.
