Early Childhood

Kobe Bean Bryant was born August 23, 1978 in 

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His parents are Joe 

and Pam Bryant. Kobe has two siblings Sharia 

and Shaya Bryant. Joe Bryant played in the NBA 

and Kobe would follow his foot steps. Kobe 

started playing in summer basketball leagues 

when he was only three years old. When Kobe 

was six his family moved to Italy and Kobe would 

return to America to play in summer leagues. 

Kobe Bryant was an All-Star in the making.

High school

Kobe Bryant went to high school at Lower Merion High School. 

He started on the varsity team his freshman year. Kobe’s jersey 

number was 33. His farther coached his second year of high 

school. His junior year he averaged 31.1 points a game. When 

his senior year came a long he led the Aces to their first state 

championship in fifty-three years. The team had an overall 

record of 31-3. Kobe Bryant scored 2,883 career points in his 

four high school years 1992-1996.After high school was over 

Bryant was the top high school basketball player in the country. 

His number was retired after his senior year of high school. He 

was a McDonald’s All-American. Kobe was also the Gatorade 

Player of the Year.
