Who are LOONA?

LOOΠΔ (Korean name: 이달의 소녀), is a 12 member girl group based in South Korea. They are managed by BBC (Blockberry Creative) Entertainment. The members were revealed over an 18 month period, with one member or subunit revealed each month, hence the name 이달의 소녀, or Girl of the Month.

Who are Orbits?

Orbit (Korean: 오빗) is the official fandom name established July 9, 2018. In korean, 오 is translated as "Oh!" and 빗 as "light." So the name means Loona are Orbit's light. Korean orbits are called Hanbits (한빛) while international orbits are called Wuebits (외빛). You might occasionally hear older Orbits call themselves Loonatics, since that was the unofficial fandom name before Orbit was announced.

The LOONAVERSE is the alternate universe Loona lives in. The Loonaverse is revealed and expands through music videos, music video descriptions, and official information from both BBC and the members themselves. It has been revealed that the Loonaverse is shaped like a mobius strip. While the Loonaverse is a big topic in the fandom, it is not necessary to understand it all, and there are many different theories about the Loonaverse.

The predebut project is the 18 month long process of introducing all 12 girls. Each month, a new member or subunit would be revealed. Each girl has their own animal, color, and subunit. Each subunit also has a shape. 1/3 is a square, OEC is a circle, and YYXY is a triangle.

Heejin

Birth name: Jeon Hee-jin (전희진)

Birthday: October 19, 2000

Subunit: LOONA 1/3

Heejin is the first girl, and relseased her solo ViViD on October 5, 2016. Her animal is a rabbit and her color is bright pink. Her location is Paris, France. Her nickname is Heekie, since she is a rabbit (rabbit in korean is tokkie). She participated on MIXNINE, but didn't make it.

Hyunjin

Birth name: Kim Hyun-jin (김현진)

Birthday: November 15, 2000

Subunit: LOONA 1/3

Hyunjin is the second girl, and released her solo Around You on November 18, 2016. Her animal is a cat and her color is yellow. Her location is Tokyo, Japan. Her nickname is Aeongie, because she likes to say aeong (meow). She loves bread and was also on MIXNINE with Heejin.

Haseul

Birth name: Jo Ha-seul (조하슬)

Birthday: August 18, 1997

Subunit: LOONA 1/3 (Leader)

Haseul is the third girl, and released her solo Let Me In on December 15, 2016. Her animal is a white bird and her color is green. Her location is Iceland. She is the leader of both 1/3 and LOONA. Unfortuanally, she has been diagnosed with anxiety and is taking a break from activities.

Yeojin

Birth name: Im Yeo-jin (임여진)

Birthday: November 11, 2002

Subunit: Solo/LOONA 1/3

Yeojin is the fourth girl, and released her solo Kiss Later on January 16, 2017. Her animal is a frog, and her color is orange. She is Loona's maknae (youngest). A lot of people think that Yeojin and Haseul look like siblings. Her nickname is Lentil Bean since she is the shortest.

LOONA 1/3 is LOONA's first subunit. It is made up of Heejin, Hyunjin, Haseul, and Vivi (introduced later). 1/3 is located on Earth in the Loonaverse and portrays the most realistic sceneries that can be found on the street or in school. The girls start their stories in their representative countries and then become unifed as one. Yeojin was not included in any 1/3 promotions, but BBC did state that she represents the slash in 1/3. Other than that, she is often treated as a solo unit. Another way to look at it is that in korean, 1/3 is read as 3/1. Heejin, Hyunjin, and Haseul make the 3, Yeojin is the /, and Vivi is the 1.

Love & Live

Love & Live, released March 13, 2017, is the debut mini album of LOONA 1/3. It contains 5 songs, with the title track being 지금, 좋아해 (Love & Live).

Love & Evil

Love & Evil, released April 17, 2017 is the repackage of LOONA 1/3's debut mini album Love & Live. It contains 3 new songs, with the title track being 알 수 없는 비밀 (Sonatine).

Vivi

Birth name: Wong Kahei (黃珈熙)

Birthday: December 9, 1996

Subunit: LOONA 1/3

Vivi is the fith girl, and released her solo Everyday I Love You (ft. Haseul) on April 17, 2017. Her animal is a deer and her color is light pink. Her location is Hong Kong. She is the only foreign member in LOONA and was originally from Hong Kong. She is the oldest member. She used to model before joining BBC.

Kim Lip

Birth name: Kim Jung-en (김정은)

Birthday: Febuary 10, 1999

Subunit: Odd Eye Circle (Leader)

Kim Lip is the sixth girl, and released her solo Eclipse on May 23, 2017. Her animal is an owl and her color is red. Her superpower is time travel. She has a pterodactal laugh which is widely memed in the fandom. Her soccer mom meme is also popular in the fandom. Her nickname is Lippie.

Jinsoul

Birth name: Jung Jin-soul (정진솔)

Birthday: June 13, 1997

Subunit: Odd Eye Circle

Jinsoul is the seventh girl, and released her solo Singing in the Rain on June 26, 2017. Her animal is a blue betta fish, and her color is blue. She also has a secondary color, black. Her superpower is teleportation. Her laugh and head slam are popular memes in the fandom. Her blonde hair is iconic, but the bleach fries her hair.

Choerry

Birth name: Choi Ye-rim (최예림)

Birthday: June 4, 2001

Subunit: Odd Eye Circle

Choerry is the eighth girl, and released her solo Love Cherry Motion on July 28, 2017. Her animal is a fruit bat and her color is purple. She also has a secondary color, white. Her superpower is dimensional travel. Her stage name sounds a lot like cherry, but ironically she hates cherries.

Odd Eye Circle (OEC) is LOONA's second subunit. It is made up of Kim Lip, Jinsoul, and Choerry. The OEC members live between Earth and the cosmos, aka Middle Earth. Each member has an odd eye that glows in an upward crescent in their representative color when activated. Kim Lip and Jinsoul's odd eyes are their left eye, while Choerry's is her right eye. Each member is also associated with a moon. They display changing and mutative characteristics and suggest that love should be taken control of instead of being passive. Because Choerry's power is the ability to travel between worlds, the OEC members are responsible for uniting LOONA.

Mix & Match

Mix & Match, released September 21, 2017, is the debut EP of Odd Eye Circle. It contains 5 songs, with the title track being Girl Front.

Max & Match

Max & Match, released October 31, 2017, is the repackage of Odd Eye Circle's debut EP Mix & Match. It contains 5 new songs, with the title track being Sweet Crazy Love.

Yves

Birth name: Ha Soo-young (하수영)

Birthday: May 24, 1997

Subunit: YYXY (Leader)

Yves is the ninth girl, and released her solo New on November 28, 2017. Her animal is a swan and her color is burgundy. Her fruit is an apple. Yves is pronounced as Eve. She used to model for MariShe. She was on her high school dance team, but had to keep it a secret from her mom. She prefers to be called Sooyoungie.

Chuu

Birth name: Kim Ji-woo (김지우)

Birthday: October 20, 1999

Subunit: YYXY

Chuu is the tenth girl, and released her solo Heart Attack on December 28, 2017. Her animal is a penguin and her color is peach. Her fruit is a strawberry. Her charm is her bubbliness. She had a big fanbase predebut due to her instagram, but she deleted it after becoming a LOONA member.

Gowon

Birth name: Park Chae-won (박채원)

Birthday: November 19, 2000

Subunit: YYXY

Gowon is the eleventh girl, and released her solo One&Only on January 30, 2018. Her animal is a butterfly and her color is eden green. Her fruit is a pineapple. She loves Oh My Girl. Her voice is described as crunchy, which is a popular meme within the fandom. In general, she is memed a lot.

OliviaHye

Birth name: Son Hye-joo (손혜주)

Birthday: November 13, 2001

Subunit: YYXY

Olivia Hye is the twelfth girl, and released her solo Egoist (ft. Jinsoul) on March 30, 2018. Her animal is a wolf and her color is silver/gray. Her fruit is a blood plum. In the dorms, Olivia sleeps above Yves and keeps shaking the bunk bed to try and make it collapse on Yves. Her nickname is Boss Baby.

YYXY, or Youth Youth by Young, is LOONA's third subunit. It is made up of Yves, Chuu, Gowon, and Olivia Hye. They live in a utopia called Eden. When the girls eat their forbidden fruit, they are cast out from Eden. Eventually, all the girls are tempted and eat their fruit. They are also each associated with an emotion (faith, love, hope, and anger respectively). The YYXY members go viral a lot due to Orbits making false stories. For example, Yves and Chuu are lesbian billionaires, Olivia Hye is the richest e-sports athlete, and Gowon is feuding with Eminem and is friends with Niki Minaj. The only confirmed story is Gowon is X Æ A-Xii's godmother.

beauty&thebeat, released May 30, 2018, is the debut mini album of YYXY. It contains 5 songs, with the title track being love4eva (ft. Grimes). YYXY is the only unit without a repackage.

우리 처음 민났을 때 기억나? (Do you remember when we first met), titled firstlovestory in english but more commonly known as Woomanna (우만나) is a web drama starring the LOONA members. The drama was filmed during the girls'

free time. So far, there are three seasons, the first two starring the members of 1/3 and the third starring the members of OEC. It aired from June 30, 2017 to March 14, 2018.

LOOΠΔ X Study Group

LOONA X Study Group, hosted Febuary 3, 2018, was the first official LOONA fan event. All LOONA music videos were played, along with undisclosed videos. The colorized version of Sweet Crazy Love and the choreography video of Singing in the Rain, Heart Attack, and One&Only were shown. Relating to the lore, Kim Lip revealed that the backpack

in Eclipse and Sweet Crazy Love is hers. She was also the one that attracted Choerry with the mirror in Love Cherry Motion, not Jinsoul.

LOOΠΔ Cinema Theory

Cinema Theories include Up & Line and Line &Up. They are a series of official fansigns that take place in a Cinema. They show both music videos and exclusive, unreleased content. Up & Line was held in Seoul on March 17, 2018 and in Busan on July 7, 2018. Some of the new videos
