Student's experiences during the quarantine
due to corona virus

Home Study
Home study is a new experience for all of us.
This all started when a new virus called coronavirus appeared.
As this virus is extremely contagious and in order not to get infected, this new "home study" initiative began. I started taking classes at home on March 24th.
I think it's been good on the one hand, because we don't need to leave the house to take classes and we also have less classes, but I think it's also bad, because it's strange that we're taking classes but on a computer, we have many more jobs now and not we learn very well that way.
In my opinion, I would prefer classes at school than at home, because we can be with our friends and learn much better

Distance learning
The distance learning starts because of COVID-19,It is a virus very dangerous that virus killed a a lot of people and, because of that virus we need to stay home to be safely. The advantages are: We have less classes,we have more time to play with my friends.
The desvantages are:we don't learn so easily because we have less classes time and there are many people who don't jave the necessary eletrical equipment,to have distance learning. It is embarasing to have to take classes on a computer. In my opinion i think this is not good because we couldn't see each other.

A new experience
Being in a pandemic requires more of us, students, more work, more worries and more isolation.
As we are in a pandemic, I am not looking for advantages, but the disadvantages are that we cannot see the world outside, we have to be isolated at home, we cannot see our family or friends.
With regard to distance learning in some subjects, we can better understand the subject, there is no noise and we can hear what the teacher explains, but for us students it becomes very exhausting the fact that we have more work, and more concentration on our part.
This pandemic is a new experience that is not easy, but we need to get used to it.

All story about Covid19
It all started in China in the city Wuhan in 2019. People say that started because the chinese ate animals that caused this virus. Than this virus sread from person to person. Later in 2020 it came to Portugal.
A few weeks later it got worse and the school had to close so we had to go home. After Easter holidays it has started school at distance.
This has been very stressed for me. In the morning I have video call and in the afternoon television lessons.
I’ve had a lot os homework, so I try to anticipate. But the truth is, when the weekend comes, I get new homeworks.
The advantages are that I can wake up later and the lessons are only fifty minutes. The disadvantages are, for example, more homeworks to do and we can’t be with our friends.
I acquired more computer skills. I felt a little uncomfortable in front of the cameras.
My opinion about this isthat it was the best decision to prevent the spread os virus.

Video meetings and closed at home
It all started when this new virus arrived at Portugal. In about a week, the face-to-face classes were interrupted and the video meetings started.
In the beginning it was a little difficult to get used to these classes by videoconference and the amount of work we had. In my opinion, the face-to-face classes were more productive about the material we retained.
But beyond that what cost me more was having to be closed at home without being able to go out, without being able to have contact with anyone, especially my family and friends.
The pressure of delivering the work on time and the duty to stay closed at home started to increase my level of exhaustion and that is why I felt bad, always tired and grumpy.
So I conclude that my quarantine was a little complicated and I would even say crazy.

Learning at home
Distance learning is not easy. We started online classes on March 20th because of this terrible pandemic, caused by this new corona virus.
In my opinion, this type of learning has its advantages and disadvantages. We started online classes on March 20th. One of the advantages is having more comfort and freedom to do our schoolwork.
Another advantage is that we can research and study the subject given more carefully. A disadvantage is having more work, especially when we don't understand a specific subject and we have to make more use of the internet and books to clarify our doubts. However, the videoconferences we have are very useful because it works like an 'almost' normal class.
Online learning may be useful and challenging, but I think this will never replace “live” classes and being with our teachers in a real environment.

Home classes
Because of a pandemic, in March, we students had to start studying at home, through video lessons with our teachers, and doing various jobs.
Online classes have their advantages and disadvantages.
The advantages, for some, are that they do not need to wake up early to catch the bus, and we can attend classes lying down. We can also eat during classes, among others.
And disadvantages are the difficulty of understanding subjects, students who deceive teachers and go to play and the headache from the time we spend in front of a screen.
In my opinion, with online classes, teachers overdo their jobs, taking the time that we should take for ourselves.

Distance learning
Distance learning started on 14th of April 2020, because a virus installed itself in our lifes and changed them in a very short time. From that day on, we started having classes on the Internet, with our teachers, and on television with the program #EstudoEmCasa. This type of education has advantages, such as: we don’t need to carry the backpack, we don’t need to wake up so early, we develop autonomy, we don’t take lack of material, among others.
But it also has disadvantages, such as: learning difficulties, dependence of the Internet and the technology, lack of physical contact, more work, etc. We learned some things, but if we were in school, we would learn more. In my opinion, this initiative was very useful at the moment we are in, because we need to learn safely.
Beatriz Rodrigues 8ºA

My personal experience with distance learning
It all started with a simple virus called the Coronavirus, which originated in China and has spread around the world and killed millions of people. The government has closed down establishments and services, including all schools. From the 13th of March onwards, we had to stay at home, quarantined, so as not to run the risk of catching or spreading the virus.
From April 14th, classes started by videoconference, and from the 20th, the home study classes.
In the middle of everything, there are some advantages, such as: We do not have to get up as early as before, we spend more time with the family, we do not take shortages of material, we do not spend so much money, we are not loaded with books... There are also several disadvantages, such as: difficulties in learning alone, lack of contact with our friends, need for internet and a computer, problems with study time, back and neck pain due to excessive time in front of the computer
During this period of confinement there were some constraints, for example when I was unable to send schoolwork to teachers because there was a lack of internet or the difficulties I had in listening to my teachers and colleagues in class.
With this pandemic I learned to be even more autonomous, to manage my study time, I discovered and learned to work with platforms I didn't know, I performed tasks and challenges and I developed skills at the digital level but also at the level of each discipline.
In my personal opinion, I would prefer to take face-to-face classes than distance learning classes, as I could answer questions more easily, I would have those times of fun with my teachers and interaction with my friends.

School online
Hello, today I´m going to talk about the school online.
The school online started when a vírus, your name Covid 19, reached worldwide.
On 13 March all students from Portugal abandoned the school happy, because they thought it was just for a month. But it wasn´t, within today we are studying at home.
We need the tablets and net to continue to learn from teachers, what is not possible for some families.
Since March, that I'm in front of a computer all day, which led to a decreasing physical exercise. We didn't meet with our friends.
In my opinion, the school online show the differences between people, what is terrible.
I hope people learn from this situation and that when everything goes back to normal the world´ll be better.
Rita Santos 9ºA

My experience in this “new school”
My experience in this new method didn`t started very well because i do not have a study method for this situations. I wasn't really understanding the content and some teachers didn't really care if i was understanding it.
Then me and my classmates spoke to the headteacher and she said that she would see what she could do.
Two weeks later i finally put my things together and i was understanding what the teachers that really care about us were saying, but a lot of teachers were not really explaining well and we lost a lot with that.
In part it was a good experience because i didn't really have to wake up at 7am every day and i was always at home, but i missed school not the classes but the school
So, were ending the year and my conclusion is that we will not be really prepared for the 10th grade because of these situation.

School or Covid-19 School?
We all know that we are going thru hard times, experiencing things that we have never experienced before. Because of this corona situation we were forced to surrender to the online school.
As the normal school this has ups and downs, advantages and disadvantages. Some of the advantages are that we can be more comfortable when listening to our teachers and now there isn’t any loses of time when it comes to having to go to another room.

The disadvantages are that we isolate ourselves more, we have even more work now than when we were at school and now is more easy to get distracted because it is hard to be 1 hour straight looking to a computer.
I’m not a big fan of online school because I miss being with my friends and my teachers and I feel like sometimes I don’t have time for myself.
I think that for all the confusion and stress that have been surrounded us, we adapted quite quickly to this type of school.
Ana Carolina Henrique, nº1, 10th B
My experience in this teaching
The experience I had in this teaching was different and much more tiring than I expected. Initially, I thought I would have more time to study and to be with my family and the truth is that I did. But over time, the time available to me and to my family was less and less. Certainly, this situation always has negative impacts on our lives, as I mentioned, but the positive side is that I can say that I survived this.
Speaking particularly of online classes, I can say that I liked it, but of course I prefer to have face-to-face classes. We had to spend hours and hours looking at a screen and that made the tiredness more. Then there were concerns about the internet connection that was not always good and the delivery of works when I had to help my mom at home and my younger sister at school. Despite all these negative aspects, it was a pleasant experience. Through technology, we can have classes and learn more and more.
SORAIA FERNANDES FERREIRA, Nº24, 10ºB
My experience in distance learning
Unfortunately, with this pandemic that has attacked the whole world, many services have been forced to close, including school. Thus, all the students, myself included, had distance lessons during this 3rd term, which is what I am going to talk about in this text.
Let's start with the positive aspects. From my point of view, distance learning has been advantageous in the way we don't needed to get up early enough to catch the bus and go to school. Taking one-click distance lessons not only allowed us to sleep late in the morning but also to have more comfort compared to face-to-face classes. However, there were
also disadvantages, such as the lack of social contact and the fact that it is not as easy to retain knowledge and ask questions as in the classroom. Still, I think that what affected me the most was the fact that there were a lot of distractions during classes, like phone notifications, the TV in the kitchen that was too loud (sometimes), or even the ads that appeared on my computer screen. Even so, overall, I think that this education system was quite efficient, under the circumstances.
Finally, I look forward to being able to go back to real school and be with my friends without restrictions very soon.

You gotta stay gold
Nowadays the world is facing a pandemic. This pandemic has changed drastically the daily lives of citizens. Everything had to change, so school/teaching was no exception. Here, in Portugal, the 3rd period was atypical, it was at a distance. Like everything else, this kind of teaching has its advantages and disadvantages. Of course, which overlap with which will differentiate from person to person. In my opinion it is advantageous to have long distance classes since the classes are shorter duration, which gives students more time to study the subject and to practice. It is also advantageous for students who had to wake up a lot early, since they needed to take the bus, because in these conditions they could wake up a
lot closer to class time. There are still many people who feel more comfortable at home might improve their participation in the classes.
However, I think this kind of teaching can be very unfair to people with greater difficulties, without access to the Internet. I also think that sometimes it would really be necessary to have face-to-face classes to clarify certain doubts that for some reason they don't seem at all easy to understand from a distance.
To sum up I believe that we shouldn’t lose our spark althroight there aren’t only good things in the world. In a world where you feel cold you gotta STAY GOLD.
Verónica Silva, N°27 10°B
Nowadays, we’re living a difficult period of our lives, facing a world pandemic that has no cure yet, even with all the researches ongoing.
For that reason, many countries had to stop everything, from education to economy. Portugal was not an exception and, to reduce the damages, all students started having online classes. This kind of teaching revealed some disadvantages and advantages as well. From my point of view, it is way harder to learn and pay attention to the classes. Besides that, the amount of work was a little bit exaggerated and it left less time for ourselves.
Online classes - good or bad?
On the other hand, online classes allow us to establish our own schedules and also work on a comfortable environment.
Personally, I prefer presential classes, not only for the motives that I’ve already mentioned but because I like spending time with my friends too and interact with other people. I hope this virus is controlled and we can go back to our normal lives.
Filipa Parente, 10º B
This year it’s a very different year, so many things have happened! We start this year with high expectations. I thought 2020 would be the year that exist flying cars, but I was wrong. We start 2020 with very disasters and a possible third war world, but the real reason that we are all at home is because an invisible enemy, the covid-19.
This virus made a huge difference on the routine of the people, and in my routine. Every day I woke up and go to school and now the school is in my house in my computer. At the begin it was strange, but I liked the experience that taking virtual classes at home.
At the same time, I was worry about this situation, so many people were dying, and we just need stay at home to protect us and others. After so long time is boring, but we don´t have choice. The hardest thing for me is can’t spend time with my friends.
It’s kind iconic that we spend April 25th closed at home. And this is my experience in this quarantine, boring but different.
