Carol was a student who lived in Hong Kong. Her father was a businessman and her mother worked as a secretary. They lived in Hong Kong for seven years. Carol was happy at school, had a lot of friends and had a great time. She liked pop music. The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Jake Rosso were her favorites ones, but she listened to Jake Rosso more. She liked his pop record all the time and she had hundreds of photos and photos of him on her bedroom wall. She was very happy all the time.
Carol's Life in Hong Kong:

Carol´s father went to Australia for business. He was in there for two weeks, on the day of his journey home, an aeroplane for Sydney crashed into the sea just south of Hong Kong and everybody on the plane died. Carol heard about that on television, but she didn't think that her father was in that plane, but then she remembered that her father was flying back from Sydney on that day she called her mother crying telling about that horrible news and they go to airport, unfortunately they learned that Carol´s father was on that airplane and he had died.
The Death of Carol´'s Father

After Carol's father died, she spent a lot of time alone in her room, because she was very sad and cried a lot for weeks and weeks. She was alone and she wanted to die too. She stopped going out with her friends because she did not want to see other people. She stopped listening to Jake Rosso's records, because nothing mattered to her anymore. Then she stopped crying, stopped feeling sad and started to feel angry. At that time she was a student and enjoyed doing her job and her university life very much. Carol started going out with some new friends, but they were different. They were bad people. They did dangerous and bad things and her mother did not like them, but she did not care. These friends took drugs and Carol started taking drugs too. One day the police came to university to arrest some of the students, Carol was not arrested, but she had to leave the university. It was a bad time, her mother was very unhappy with her and told her they needed to return to England. She accepts that.

Carol life after her father dead
Finally, Carol’s mother decides to take Carol to London to start a new life and be happy. When they arrive in London they live in a hotel and the city seems a bit strange because they all speak English and see these giant red buses. They also see the famous places of London with The Tower of London and Buckingham Palace.
They return to London

The Life in the Island
On the trip Carol can see towns and mountains and Greta Ross tells her mother about her husband, Mr. Ross. He is a businessman and invests money in companies around the world. When they get to the island, they go to the Greta´s house. It is a very big house and has trees all around it. There’s a housekeeper and a gardener. Mrs Ross likes painting a lot and she is very good at it and goes to different places on the island to paint. Mr. Ross talks with Mrs Sander because he needs help in the work. Carol likes gardening, so can help M.r Duncan and in the farm or Dan and Stella with the animals.

We think that the next chapters will be about Carol suspecting something about Mr. Ross and she will investigate him and follow him everywhere to find out who he really is and what he does, Carol will also investigate how he has so much money so young and how he bought that island. Also, she will find out that Mr. Ross really is Jack Ross, his favorite singer who thought he was dead but not, and is going to have to keep the secret.

John Escott before becoming a writer and starting writing books he worked in business. After being a businessman he starts to write books for all ages and he enjoys writing crime and mystery thrillers.

John writes and reads books for Oxford Bookworms.

Our favorite scene is when Carol and her mother leaves Hong Kong to move to London England, this scene is too wonderful and is our favorite because when they live in London they gonna be happy and they are gonna start over, start a new life there, and leaves her problems in the past, also when they moved to London Carol’s mother can have a great job in the island and they can live a very happy and fun life together in the island, and finally can leaves her problems and all the sufrement in the past.

Our favorite character is Greta Ross because she is an amazing and a very strong and worker woman because in the book she said that she was the one who bought the island with her own money. That means she worked very hard to comply with her dreams and goals. Also she is a very interesting and creative woman because she is an artist and she made beautiful paintings on the beach on the island. Also she is very kind because she was the one that helped Carol’s mother to get the job on the island.
