In a small apartment, in a medium neighborhood, in a pretty large city lived a happy family with three black cats. There was the big cat whose name was Steve, the medium sized cat who was called by all Conner, and finally, the little cat who was named Harold.

Steve, the big cat, was a snob and usually sat high above and told everyone what to do. Conner, the medium cat was timid and shy and liked to hide under furniture. Harold, the smallest cat, was adventurous and said what he thought. They all lived happily together and got along just fine.

One Christmas evening the cats all went to the living room and saw an unusual looking box under the tree. It was pretty big and seemed to be moving.
Steve sat at the window thinking anxiously what could possibly be in the box. He had a feeling it was bad news.
Conner got scared from the moving box so he hid behind the armchair. Harold, the adventurous one of the clowder, went directly to the box to investigate what was inside. He scratched the box and tried to tip it over and then came out...

A yellow cat.
The yellow cat immediately introduced himself:
"Hi ! I'm Edgar. I am new to this house. Care to show me around? "
Steve, Conner and Harold were not in a hurry to make their new guest feel welcome.
"Sorry. We are quite busy" Hissed Steve.
"We are kind of in the middle of something" whispered Conner. "We don't like new cats" Harold said bluntly.

From then on, things changed in the small apartment, in the medium sized neighborhood in the pretty large city.
Edgar seemed unfazed by his cold welcome. Instead he tried his best to befriend the other cats.
So, he licked the cream from Conner's bowl, he took a nap on Steve's pillow and played with Harold's toy hoping they would all join him.
But instead the cats got angrier and angrier.

The next morning they woke up in a sour mood and discussed yesterday's events.
"He took my toy" huffed Harold.
"He took my pillow!" sneered Steve.
"He drank my cream" cried Conner.
That night they had a secret meeting.
They all decided four is a crowd and from here on end they would not include Edgar in anything.
The following day, Mom came home with a special gift. She gave Edgar a ball of yarn.
Edgar took the yarn over to Harold and said excitedly:
"Harold, Steve, Conner would you like to play with me and my new toy?"
The cats were surprised. They had been mean to Edgar all day, but they were anxious to play with the yarn. So they came to play.
