Most effective instructional models?

I believe the transformative approach and the decision-making/social action approaches work the best because they provide students an opportunity to not just learn about other cultural perspectives but also research, make judgments and think critically. Also, it prepares them for a growingly diverse world as adults

I also loved the "The danger of a single story" TedTalk by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I think it's important to factor in many stories about diverse cultures and not just one. One story can promote stereotypes while multiple shows the diversity within different cultures and the uniqueness of all different people even within certain cultures

Things I'll try to adopt.

For one I'll open up the classroom to diversity of cultures and ideas and when the cultures are discussed ensure that they are discussed through more than one story.

I will welcome each student by name as it is more respectful and can lead to more enthusiasm for the class.

More visual aids to keep students engaged and interested by the lessons

Class-building, team-building and heterogeneous groups for discussions can be helpful so that students can learn and understand perspectives from a variety of backgrounds

MAKE SURE I acknowledge all student's questions, comments and concerns before moving on
