Mrs. Kruger is the Librarian at Pine Bush Elementary School. This year, she has noticed there is a divide in her first grade classes! There are those who can't wait to come to class sharing about the books they have read, and those who have an obvious lack of interest in reading.

For every book you read a marble will be added to our first grade jar!

After much consideration she decides to make an announcement to each of her first grade classes.  For every book they read and give a brief share with the class a marble will be added to the first grade jar. Once the jar is filled Mrs. Kruger and the entire first grade will have a pizza party during lunch time. The children are filled with excitement and fear they will not meet the goal. Mrs. Kruger is quick to explain if they work together and show an effort it can be done! 

The students read and read and read. By the end of the month they have filled the jar. The day of the pizza party the students are proud and excited for their accomplishments and discuss the books they loved during their pizza party!
