Hope is a 20 month old toddler. Hope is a very happy child. Hope has 1 older sister, Maddi, a mommy, a daddy and a dog named Lombardi who all live together. Hope loves to come to daycare everyday, where she plays with all of her friends and interacts with her loving teachers, Ms. Anna & Ms. Elena!

Hope loves to engage in a variety of activities throughout the day in her toddler classroom. She and her friends love to listen to books, paint, engage in sensory table activities, pretend, work with manipulatives, explore in the sandbox, stack blocks, work with puzzles and more!

When Hope arrives in her daycare classroom, she immediately walks up to her teachers, Ms. Anna and Ms. Elena, to give big hugs! Showing affection starts out as imitation with children when they reach the age of 1 (CDC, 2020). Toddlers are able to make the connection between affection and bringing joy to others through hugs, smiles and kisses. Hope loves to hug her teachers & friends at daycare!

Ms. Anna gathers the children after breakfast at the table to introduce an interactive math activity - pegs and pegboards. Hope loves to work and explore with pegs! She uses problem-solving skills as she explores with trial-and-error concepts (Berk, 2013). Hope figures out how to place the pegs into the pegboard. She also loves to see how high she can stack her pegs!

After our pegs activity, Ms. Elena guides the children to Carpet Area, where she has set up an interactive game of Seek-A-Boo! Hope loves this age-appropriate matching activity! Hope uses her information-processing skills to pay close attention to each card as she flips them over, as well as her ability to recognize simple objects, colors, language, memory & repetition skills (Berk, 2013).

By 10:00am, the children have participated in a number of hands-on, math and problem-solving activities! Ms. Anna and Ms. Elena announce it is time for clean up. We sing as we guide the children to help us, "Clean up, clean up everybody, everywhere! Clean up, clean up everybody do your share!" Hope is excellent at clean up. She demonstrates her ability to take responsibility & ownership for her classroom, as well as listening & following simple directions.

CLEAN UP SONG
Ms. Anna and Ms. Elena gather the children in Cozy where we engage in some favorite fingerplays, songs, rhymes and action games. Hope loves to sing, "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", "The Wheels On The Bus" & "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes". Hope demonstrates her ability to follow along in the songs & rhymes. She also practices acquiring new vocabulary words and hearing rhythm within language (Berk, 2013).
