I set my plate like this to make sure I eat a healthy meal and get a good amount of each food group. It's good to eat healthy so you can grow big and strong.

When it comes to fruits, I like to make sure I have a quarter of my plate full of them. There's a long list of fruits you can pick from.
Some benefits of fruits:
- full of vitamins
- decreases chance of getting sick
- good for your heart and brain








What are some fruits you like to eat?

Vegetables are important too. They take up another quarter of my plate. There are so many you can pick to eat. You can even grow them in your backyard! Vegetables have a lot of the same benefits as fruits.
Fruits and vegetables combined should take up half of your plate.







Vegetables come in all different colors.
What vegetables do you like to eat?

Grains take up another quarter of my plate. They come in all different types. Bread, cereal, pasta, and rice are just a few examples. My favorite types of grains to eat are pasta, popcorn, bread, and crackers.
Why are grains important?
- keep your heart healthy
- full of nutrients






Can you think of any other examples of grains?

Protein is the last spot on my plate. Protein includes more than just meat. Not everyone eats meat but they still need protein. They can get it from eggs, beans, fish, and nuts.
If you don't eat anything that comes from an animal you can eat:
- tofu
- veggie burgers
- peanut butter
