There once was a little girl named Lucille. Everyone that knew Lucille knew that she LOVED delicious sweet treats. Her mother owned the most popular bakery in town. So everyday, Lucille ate cookies, donuts and her favorite, CUPCAKES! All of her friends thought she was the luckiest girl in the world! Until one day....

After a fun night of nail painting and girly makeovers, Lucille's mother told her the bad news. She told her that she went to doctor's office earlier that week. She had been feeling tired, moody, and had a horrible tooth ache. The doctor told her she was suffering from poor nutrition.

Lucille was confused, she didn't even know what poor nutrition meant. All she knew was that she didn't want her mother to be sick. Lucille's smile quickly faded away.
She began to think about all the times she asked her mother to play, and her mother seemed withdrawn. She thought about how angry her mother had gotten when she accidently spilled her milk. It all made sense, her mother hadn't been herself for a long time.

Lucille's mother could sense her fear. "Everything is going to be okay sweetie," she reassured, "We just have to change our diet. Nutrition is simply the food that assist us in growing healthy. Vitamins, minerals, proteins, water and carbohydrates makes food nutritious. Fruits and vegetables are nutrient-dense. Unlike the cupcakes, donuts and cookies we've enjoyed. Junk food is full of sugar, artificial coloring and bleached flour. Also, major achievements have been reached that most of the people in the world receive sufficient food to meet their energy requirements" (Gross, Rainer, et al).

"In addition to eating nutrient- dense food, We must practice adequate oral hygiene. Instead of brushing our teeth once a day, we will now brush twice a day AND floss! My tooth was aching because I was allowing the sugar to weaken my teeth, I don't want that to happen to you."

"We will change our diet, by eating nutritious fruits, and vegetables. We will take care of our teeth better than before.
However, we can't forget to take care of our hair, skin and nails," Lucille's mother said, rubbing a coconut, aloe and avocado paste on her face. "Can you think of any others ways we can stay healthy, Lucille?"
