We all get very tired of having to carry water from miles away every day. Since there is no water in our village, we do not have any land to cultivate. We cannot be fed enough. Everywhere is dry with thirst and we don't have trees to play around with. Every day we think about what we can do. Who can help a small village?
Living in a small and green village could be fun. We would have fruit trees and animals around a garden where we could play. It is impossible for us children to do this by carrying water in buckets every day at birth. In order to have a cultivable area in our village, we need a work that can bring water to our village from the river.

Last month, our teacher has found a pen pal for all of us at school. We became pen pals with children of the same age from different countries. I was matched with Yusuf from Turkey. In my first letter, I wrote about our village and our problems.
And Ilearnt that in his country, water is flowing from the taps. He said that he was very sad for our water shortage.

He wrote in his letter that he wanted to help my village. I wasn't sure if he could really do this. But he mentioned that he had some brilliant ideas for helping us. He had alread decided to talk to his classmates and his teachers about this problem. He was sure that they would do something to solve our villag ' s problem. I thanked him in my letter and started to wait for hearing from Yusuf.
One day I received a letter from Yusuf. I was so excited that I couldn’t read his letter at first. Then I took a deep breath and read it. He wrote that, his school wanted to help us. They would organise a campaign. It was a kind of a " water campaign" I was the happiest girl in the world because their helpfulness, sensitivity and generosity showed me that there are good people in the world.

Yusuf explained the details in his letter. Yusuf and his school would organise a fair to collect some money. Their aim was to drill a water well in my village. Doing this wasn't so easy. They had a lot of ideas for fundation. For example, Yusuf wrote in his letter that they would make posters so that rich and generous people would learn about my village' s problem. They might even donate some money for this campaign. As soon as I read his letter, I talked to my teacher and told her about Yusuf' s and his school' s plans.

My teacher and my calssmates were very happy to hear these news. His next letter, Yusuf sent me one of their posters they prepared for our Water Campaign. It was a very impressive poster. We were again full of hope to bring water in our village.
And there was a surprise in the envelope with the letter.: their picture taken while they were working on the fair to get money. They prepared many meals, clothes, toys to sell in the fair. They looked very happy and tired in the picture.

Yusuf wrote that the Fair went very well and that everyone was mobilized to participate in this event. They sold everything they had prepared to sell, even received donations. He saved the surprise at the end of the letter.Turkey's most famous pop artist has accepted an offer to organize a benefit concert for us. A famous theater group also staged a play, of which yield to be were donated to our village. At the end of the concert and the theater, they sent us their regards. They said that everything was going very well and the organizations were finally ready for the money they needed.

A few days later another letter arrived from Yusuf in which he told us that his teacher would be leaving these days and would bring us the money they had earned from the fair, the concert and the theater. We were very happy with this news and were looking forward to that day. It would take at least two days. Two days later, the money earned from the fair, by the theatre and concert was given to my teacher. So that the following week this money, gained from the "Campaign for water" organized by my friend Yusuf and his school, were brought to the municipality to make a well for our village. Two weeks later that water source was realized: it was a dream made true! What a joy for all of us! Especially for the children, who were very happy for this big change in their lives.

I just got a pen friend from Turkey wrote about our problems and then a miracle happened. Yusuf was so sensitive and good boy that he couldn’t ignore us. With this miracle we not only had water wells in our village but also we met with agriculture. We can now cultivate some products depending on the climate. It is a big miracle for my village.

Everyone in my village is soo happy. Even my donkey, Ajuji, is so happy. He is getting older and he doesn’t have to carry 40 liters of water everyday anymore. It is unbelievable that we have water in our village. Still, nobody wastes water because we do know the importance of water. For decades, we run out of water. We know how it is difficult to live without it.
