"Sigh." "What's the matter Pappagallo? You're not looking at that silly website again are you?" Aladdin asked his friend. "I know it's not good for me but I can't help myself. I keep wanting to see what the other birds I know are up to. And every time I look at their profiles, I feel bad about myself." "But why?" "I haven't really accomplished that much. These other birds live in glamorous locations, have big families, and don't have a care in the world" Pappagallo frowned.

& BIRD RESCUE

"Are you jealous?" "No, I'm not sure how I feel Aladdin. I just wish I had the opportunities that the other birds did." "But you didn't and you can't change that. Besides you can't waste time comparing yourself to others. Look at all of the progress you've made. You went from a scared, sick little parrot to the star attraction at The Sea Shells Sanctuary." "I guess but I still feel like it's not enough. I need to do something important and heroic" Pappagallo proclaimed.

Pappagallo was taken from his home in Brazil when he was only a few months old. He and hundreds of other exotic birds had been snatched from their mothers by greedy animal smugglers and put up for sale online. They would be exported into the U.S. by a band of smugglers who made big money by selling these precious creatures. Pappagallo's new family got tired of looking after him and decided to release him into the wild. Trouble was that he had never been alone in the wild. He was still very young and afraid. Enter Antonia Averi.

Antonia was a huge animal lover. She wanted to save every animal she could. Antonia knew it was an unrealistic goal but she wanted to help animals in need. Unfortunately, her Dad was allergic to cats, dogs, and other animals with fur. But he did allow for her to have a few pet birds. Eventually she would develop a real fondness for birds. When she worked at her college newspaper, Antonia wrote an article about how exotic birds were being treated as expendable pets. Even though she graduated with a Marketing degree, Antonia did not want to join the business world. Her goals had changed.

The morning that she found a hapless little parrot left alone in a field, Antonia had found her purpose in life. She would open a sanctuary for exotic birds that had been neglected or mistreated. Things started slowly as the shelter struggled for the first couple of years. But eventually Antonia had developed a lot of connections in the local business world. Soon donations began pouring in and two years later, Sea Shells Sanctuary & Bird Rescue became a reality.

Antonia had also worked wonders with Pappagallo. He went from being a scrawny little bird with matted feathers to a bright, brilliant parrot. Parrots are very smart birds and Pappagallo was no exception. Parrots can learn up to 250 words and sometimes more. While he was recovering at Antonia's home, her parents used to sing popular songs from their native Italy. Soon Pappagallo began to mimic the songs he heard. Word spread around town about the talented singing bird and soon the sanctuary was filled with people. More importantly, they were receiving a ton of donations from visitors and supporters.

EXIT
"I like your parrot. He sings so nice and he's very cute. What's his name?" "It's um....." Antonia had been so busy getting the sanctuary started and working with the other birds that she had forgotten to name the plucky parrot. Stumped, she blurted out the first thing that came to mind. "Pappagallo." "Pappagallo? I love that name!" "It's Italian for parrot." "Hey, I'm Italian too. Maybe we're distant cousins?" she giggled. "C'mon Emely, it's time to go!" her teacher called out. "Bye bye birdie!" the little girl chuckled.

"When you first arrived at the sanctuary you were timid and nervous around people and the other birds. But once you started feeling better about yourself you became a great friend to some of the lonely birds who were just as scared and sad as you once were. It's unfortunate that you had to go through some tough times but look at you now. You are surrounded by people that love you." "I know but I still feel inferior. I can't change the past but I will change the future." "What does that mean?" Aladdin wondered. "Just watch me" Pappagallo replied jumping off the branch.

"Hi Aladdin, have you seen Pappagallo? I found some new songs I'd like to teach him." "He, um, left." "What do you mean he left?" "He's been spending all his free time on a social media site called 'FeatherBook.' It's a site for birds around the world to interract with one another." "I'm familiar with it. He's so much better than that. Everybody brags about themselves or their families on those sites. I thought Pappagallo would know better." "Where could he be?" "I don't know Aladdin and now I'm worried. Oh how I wish Mark Zuckerbird never created that darn website."

🦜MARGARITA TOWN

Pappagallo quest began at a bar called Margarita Town in Miami. It was where the men who took him stopped for a beer when they returned to America. "Avast ye maties!" he cried out. "What are you talking about parrot?" the man with the hat sneered. "Just a little pirate talk." "Pirate? Who's a pirate? We're three dudes having a few brewskies after another successful trip." "But what about the clothes? The hat? The swords?" "It's the latest fashion trend: Pirate Chic" the man with the hat replied. "Um, alright. I hear you fellas are involved in the exotic bird business and I think I can help."

A few beers later the men and Pappagallo boarded a large ship. "Do you think we can trust him Captain?" the man with the bandana asked. "Maybe we should be pirates. Every good captain needs a trusty parrot sidekick!" "Mmmphhh!" "I didn't understand a word you said Eyepatch John. I wish you would shave that bird's nest! Alright, once our orders from Grubhub arrive, it's off to the Amazon to find more of these purty little things!" the Captain shouted. "Purty little things?" Why did that sound so familiar? Oh no! The Captain was the one who birdnapped Pappagallo from his home a couple of years ago.

"Antonia! Come quick, I need to show you something!" "What is it Aladdin?" "Look, it's Pappagallo's Featherbook profile. It says he's going back to the Amazon to save exotic birds!" "Oh no! My poor, sweet baby. That sounds so dangerous!" "What do we do?" Aladdin started to panic. "I wish I knew. He's spent more of his life here than he has in the Amazon. Oh, I'm so worried!" "Call the police. We can get them to put out an A.P.B." "What's that?" "An All Parrots Bulletin." "Now is not the time for puns" Antonia sternly responded. "I'm sorry, I tend to make jokes when I'm nervous" Aladdin sulked.
