"Well it's too bad we didn't get to see you guys this Christmas. Hopefully you can visit me and your Uncle Manny in the New Year. Love you guys!" "Love you too Grampa!" the kids replied. "This Christmas stinks!" Kayla pouted. "I know. I'm soooooo bored" her brother Ken added. "I wish we could've gone to Grampa's house for Christmas. We always have so much fun there. Oh well." "The holiday season isn't quite over yet" Kayla hinted. "What do you mean?"

"With everybody stuck inside due to the latest COVID surge, we won't get to see Grampa until Spring!" "But what are we gonna do? There are so many COVID rules that we need to follow. And besides, Mom and Dad would never let us go." "That's why we're going to sneak out and visit Grampa and Uncle Manny on our own. Pack some supplies and mask up. We should be there by nightfall." "All set!" Ken returned. "Oh brother! Not that kind of mask! The kind that covers your mouse and nose. This is gonna be one long trip" Kayla bemoaned.

The kids started off on their trek to see their Grampa. By car, the trip would've taken just over an hour. By foot it would take much, much longer. "This city is like a ghost town" Ken commented. "All the stores are closed and there's nobody around. It's kinda creepy." "Yeah, maybe we should head back home." "No! We've come too far to turn around!" Kayla barked. Actually the kids had only been walking for 10 minutes. But in this age of COVID, it's hard to tell what time or even what day it is anymore.

"I'm cold Kenny. Maybe we should go home after all." Um, hello? This was all your idea." "Um, hello? Don't you want to see Grampa and exchange gifts?" "Um, hello? Can the two of you stop saying 'um, hello?' and help me?" "Who was that?" Kayla muttered to her brother. "I don't know and I don't want to find out. Let's get outta here!" As the kids tried to run away they were engulfed by a giant green cloud that transported them to a giant snow drift.

Soon the green mist disappeared as the kids found themselves in the presence of a superhero. He was covered in cuts and bandages. "Children, I need your help!" he begged. "Who are you supposed to be? The Green Lantern?" "Green Hornet?" Kayla guessed. "Green Arrow?" Ken shouted out. "Enough! I'm not the Green anything! My name is 'The Curve'. I have been battling COVID since it first began. I thought I crushed it this past summer but I was wrong. Now it is stronger than ever." "Cool story bro but we gotta go" Ken said dismissively.

Before the kids could get away, The Curve began to shake and twitch. "Hey Mister, are you alright?" Kayla asked. Seconds later the hero let go a gigantic sneeze covering the kids in green slime. "Ewwwww! Gross! This is worse than your farts Kenny!" "Very funny. I don't feel so good Kayla." "Me neither" his sister replied as they both started to feel light-headed. "What's going on? I feel like I'm losing control of my body?" Kayla worried. Moments later the pair suddenly blasted off into outer space.

"Ahhh! You're a big green monster!" Ken yelled. "Ahhh! And you're a little green one! What just happened Ken? I feel different, as if I have strange powers." "Yeah, I feel kinda funny too. Whatever that green slime was changed us into these weird creatures. But why?" "You have been chosen to end the COVID-19 outbreak" said The Curve. It was actually a hologram of the extinct hero. "You are no longer Kayla and Ken. You are COVID Crusher Girl and Vaccine Boy and it is up to you to destroy the virus and cure the planet. No pressure or anything."

The Curve then magically disintegrated into a pile of stardust as he drifted away. "So now what?" Vaccine Boy wondered. "We head back to Earth, crush the COVID and vaccinate the entire planet." "Sounds cool but what about Mom and Dad? They must be freaking out." "Stay calm Vaccine Boy. We'll worry about them later. We've got work to do!" COVID Crusher Girl declared.

Meanwhile back on Earth.............

"VROOM! VROOM!" Mom laughed as she pushed around a toy truck. "Uh, hun, where are the kids? I haven't seen them since this morning." "I'm sure they're fine. Probably playing video games or watching TV. Hey, check this out! Did you realize that this dolly comes with twenty different outfits. That's right, twenty!" Dad shouted. "Yeah, I guess they're fine."

"Gather 'round everyone. Here's the plan." "Everyone? It's just you and me" Vaccine Boy interjected. "Sorry, I got a little carried away. I'm heading back to Earth to crush some COVID. You're headed to The Vaccine Vortex to get the Cosmic Cure and heal the entire planet." "Got it! Good luck COVID Crusher Girl!" "Same to you Vaccine Boy!" The pair bumped elbows before setting off on their dangerous missions.

When COVID Crusher Girl arrived back on Earth she was in for a big surprise. The virus had mutated and created a group of monsters called 'The Corona Creatures.' "Leave now COVID Crusher Girl and maybe you won't get infected" one of the mutants creatures warned our hero. "Alright boys, we can do this the hard way..........or we can do this the fun way" COVID Crusher Girl grinned. As she readied for battle, she could feel a rush of power and energy crackling throughout her body.

In the blink of an eye, COVID Crusher Girl had destroyed all of the Corona Creatures. A crowd of people began to assemble around her and clapped. For the first time in months they felt hopeful. "You did it! You defeated COVID!" one of the citizens cheered. "Not yet. That was only the first part. Vaccine Boy should be getting ready to cure the planet any second now." A few more minutes passed and nothing was happening. "Yup, any second now" an uncomfortable COVID Crusher Girl said. "Hey, Vaccine Boy! Where are you!" she growled.

"Ah, there it is, The Cosmic Cure" Vaccine Boy smiled as he was just inches away from the sphere. "Yo! Vaccine Boy! Where do you think you're going?" an angry voice shouted out. It was a group of intergalactic street toughs known as 'The Novaxx Boys.' "There ain't no cure and you're on our turf so scram!" Vaccine Boy didn't have super-strength like his sister but he was very good at basketball. "Listen dudes, if I'm able to dribble the Cure past the three of you, I get to keep it. Deal?" "It's on like Donkey Kong!" one of the toughs sneered.
