There was once a farmer. He had a swan and a chicken. They were complete opposites of one another. The swan was always rambling on about her exquisite features, saying she was the best of the best.
“Look at me, look at me. My feathers are the most stunning of all,” she boasted.
She would hardly stand still. “Everybody, I’m so adorable, don’t you think?” she would say.
Unfortunately, she was right. Chicken would never be as alluring as swan was. Chicken, on the other hand, was quite unattractive. Her feathers were a dull brown and maroon.
The Chicken And The Swan
By Silvia
One sunny day, like always, swan was bragging about her beauty.
“You are the most disgusting chicken I’ve ever met,” swan whistled. Chicken was not hurt by these words.
She calmly replied, with a stern look on her face, “Sure, I may not be beautiful, but what I produce counts and not my beauty.”
And chicken proved she was right. The next morning, her farmer went to sell her silver eggs. He got so much money out of it that he was undoubtedly the most wealthy farmer there was.
With his money, he improved his farm and made a noteworthy new pen for chicken.
Chicken said, “Swan, you may not know, but beauty is only skin-deep and also, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover."
The Cat And The Lizard
by Sofia A.
Once upon a time there was a Cat who loved eating lizards. One day the cat came upon a very large, plump Lizard. Oh what a yummy looking Lizard that is thought the Cat.
So the greedy Cat snick upon the lizard, and licking her lips, she pounced the lizard. SNAP! Just then the lizard was like, “Please, please, oh please,” he begged. “Don’t eat me! I will do anything for you.”
But the cat didn’t listen and opened her mouth and moved her paw close to her mouth so she could eat the lizard. But before she could eat the lizard, the lizard bit the cat's tongue. The cat said, “OOOOWWWW!” And dropped the lizard.
So from that day on the cat never hunted or ate a lizard ever again.
Moral: Do onto others as you would have them do onto you.
the Owl and the fox
Bethel T.
There once lived an Owl. One day, the Owl set off to find food for him and his family. When he came down on a branch to take a brief rest, he spotted a Fox, right under the tree.
“Hello, ugly, brown- feathered Owl.” the Fox said. “You are the ugliest creature I ever met and I have red fur that is probably the most beautiful in the forest.”
Owl was upset. Nobody ever said his feathers were ugly before. Fox turned away to leave, but Owl stopped him. “Wait!” he said, and he flew right in front of Fox’s path to stop him. “Why don’t we have a race? I will fly and you will run as fast as you can.”
Fox was surprised that Owl challenged him for a race, but he did not let that surprise stop him from racing against Owl.
He said, “Owl, I accept the challenge, but do you think you can beat a fast and graceful Fox?" Owl just flew away, because he did not want to answer that question.
On the day of the race, Owl got there on time, but Fox didn’t. When Fox got there, Owl saw that Fox had tried his best to look as graceful and beautiful as he could, and he did a very good job about it. He primped his coat and he looked like he groomed it a million times.
Bunny, the announcer said, “Ok, when I say ‘go’ run fast Fox! Owl, fly! Ready, set, GO!’’
And Owl flew as fast as he could. Fox, on the other hand, was half-running and half-strutting across the race path. He was trying to show the audience how red and elegant his fur was. Owl was focusing on the race, and he made it to the finish line! Fox was outraged!
Fox was fuming by the end of the race and he ran into the forest without glancing back. Owl shouted to him, “Well, Fox I hope you learned that beauty isn’t everything!”
The dog and the cat
By Ryker
Once there was a hardworking dog. One day the dog approached a cat and asked him to help him build a new shelter. The rainy season was coming soon. Cat said, “No it’s not going to rain. Look it’s a beautiful sunny day." The lazy cat continued to relax under a tree.
So the Dog left. Bang Bang! Bang! Eventually when the dog was almost done with building a shelter for the rain. The dog asked the cat one more time before it was going to rain. But the cat hollered and said, "I told you already it will not rain because it is a beautiful sunny day."
The cat went back to relaxing under the tree. The dog left to finish the shelter. NAIL! NAIL! NAIL! He went. Just in time he finished the shelter because it started raining. The dog went inside to dry off.
The cat knocked on his door, "Can I please stay with you until the rain is gone?" he pleaded. "Please, please!"
“No!” the dog said. “I told you this season was coming and you did not help me build this shelter one little bit. So you cannot stay with me.”
The cat exclaimed, “But then where will I stay?”
“That is not my problem.” The dog responded. So the cat walked away looking sad and wet.
Moral: There is a time for play and time for work.
The Dog and the Cat
by Avery
Once there was a dog who was hard at work building a house for the winter. He was building a cozy house for the winter. Then a few minutes later he spotted a cat chasing a butterfly behind him and asked if she could help.
But the cat was not thrilled and replied, “It's not winter! Can’t you see there is no snow on top of me.” So she went on chasing a butterfly.
Disappointed the dog went back to work with no help at all. He started building the base covered with brown bumpy wood and sanded it down. Shuffle, shuffle went the sandpaper.
Later on the dog was on to painting. He went to the cat and said, “Now can you help me?”
“NO! I will not help you. Can’t you see I'm napping. I already told you...now let me be!” the lazy cat yelled,
So with that the dog painted his house with a blue-green color. When he was done painting he asked the cat again, “Will you please help me with the roof.”
But this time the cat hollered, “I told you it will not snow now GO AWAY!”
The dog finally got the roof sanded, painted but only after hours of hard work. In no time the snow came down and the dog went inside. He got pillows and a blanket and sat in his cozy house. When the snow came down hard. Soon the cat came to the dog's house and begged, "May I come in?" he shivered. "It's SO COLD."
The dog opened the door and just said, "You did not help so you can’t come in.” So with that the dog slammed the door and the cat walked away in the cold winter storm.
Moral: There's a time for work and a time for play.

By Maya
Once there was a dog that lived in the Giant Sequoia forest. He knew winter was right around the corner so he was going to build a warm cozy dog house. The dog needed help building his dog house. The dog approached the cat and asked, “Can you help me build my new dog house,” asked the dog.
“NO! Can’t you see I am sleeping,” the Tiger cat replied. “NOW GO AWAY!”
While the dog was building a dog house the cat continued sleeping in a hammock. The dog nailed pieces of wood together to form a shape of a house and made a roof out of wood and nailed it to the house . Then he put up decorations, got couches, and the beds inside the house to make it cozy. After that the dog asked the cat again, “Can you help me paint my dog house?”
The cat said, “NO! I am sleeping NOW GO AWAY!” the cat hollered.
A few weeks later it was winter and the dog was done building the dog house. The cat was so cold she was shaking and her whiskers froze. She went to the dog’s house banging on the door, “Can I go inside the dog house?”
“NO! You didn't help me build my dog house or paint my dog house,” the dog exclaimed.
Then the cat had to stay outside in the cold winter shivering.
Next time the dog asked the cat to help get prepared for winter the cat didn’t hesitate to help. So she had a happy winter. The moral is there’s a time for work and a time for play.
The Pig, the Cat, and the Cookies
By Kyle
Once upon a time on a farm there was a pig and a cat. The pig was always hungry and looking for food. The cat was smart but he was lazy.
One day the pig was hungry and determined to find food but the pig couldn't find food so the pig asked, "Cat can you please help me find something to eat?"
The cat said, “Yes if you give me some food too!”
So the pig and the cat went to find food. They looked all over but they still couldn't find any food. Just then, the pig finally smelled something sweet in the air. He sniffed the air.
“What’s that scrumptious smell?” he said lifting his head up. “Let’s go find it.”
Together the pig and the cat followed the sweet smell. They searched and searched for what that sweet smell could be. They searched for so long they grew tired. So they took a nap. When they woke up, they saw cookies way up high on the window sil of the house.
“OH! OH! I SEE COOKIES!” yelled the pig.
“I can see it too but how are we going to get it down?” asked the cat.
“I have an idea," said the pig."We can move the boxes so you can climb up and get the cookies."
So the cat and the pig worked together and moved the boxes. As a result they got the cookies and the pig noticed that two heads are better than one.

The Mouse who only cared about Cheese
By Dylan
Once upon a time, there was a little mouse that was in love with cheese. He loved it so much, at the dinner table he gobbled all of his cheese and even ate his family's cheese.
After dinner he always said, “Yum, yum, yum. I can never get enough cheese.”
Obviously, his family hated this very much and so they decided to do something. “How about we take away his cheese?'' said dad mouse.
“Yes, that's a good idea!,” said mom mouse. So, they took away his cheese and the little mouse cried for three days.
On the third day of crying, he wiped his tears and had an idea. He decided to go look outside for cheese.
A sneaky snake lived in a borough in a grass field near the little mouse's house. The snake didn't like cheese at all, but he just adored to eat mice.
The snake knew how to catch a mouse. He could lure a mouse with a big piece of swiss cheese. He put the swiss cheese on a trail near the mouse's house and the snake hid behind a tree.
He put a bell inside the holes of the swiss cheese so if the mouse grabbed it, he would hear the bell and eat the mouse. When the mouse went on the trail, he found the cheese. When the snake heard the bell, he slithered toward the cheese.
The mouse quickly ran screaming when he spotted the snake, "aaaaaahhhh." The snake said, "Why are you running? I was going to give you lots of cheese."
The mouse quickly ran back. “WHERE IS IT! WHERE IS IT! I WANT IT!" the mouse begged.
Obviously, the snake quickly slithered over to the mouse and ate him.
Moral of the story: Care about more than one thing
Once upon a time, there was a snake that lived in a small cabin. The snake got a lot of stuff but kept his stuff all to himself. For example, the snake would throw a party at his house but keep the treats or desserts all for himself only and he didn't give any of it to his guests.
Another example was when he went out to search for food and he found a lot of food... even more than he needed for himself, but still he did not share at all. His friends, the owl and rabbit, thought this is very unkind and selfish.
The Selfish Snake Learns To Share
By Graham
One day the snake saw his friend owl sitting in a tree. Just then the rabbit came and said, “Good day Owl. Do you want to trade?”
“Why yes,” said the rabbit.
So the owl gave the rabbit a juicy red apple. The rabbit was very thrilled.
“Why I have never done that before!” said the snake. "He looked so happy."
“You should do it sometime,” said the owl.
The next day, the snake thought about what the owl said to him. When he ate breakfast he thought about his friend owl and rabbit. I will invite my friends over for dinner and share with them he thought. A little while later the owl and the rabbit accepted his invitation and came over. For the first time the snake shared with his friends. Owl and Rabbit were surprised and that's how the snake learned to share. Snake felt really overjoyed and he was surprised sharing could make him happy.
The Eagle and the Fox
By Parker
Far, far away in a forest there was a fox and an eagle. The eagle was flying around in the sky and spotted a fox. The fox was skipping home, carrying a dead rabbit around his shoulders. The fox whistled a happy tune. The eagle spotted the fox and said to himself, “I wonder how tasty that rabbit would be?
The fox walked along a stone path in a neighborhood. He looked at a tree that was full of apples. “Oh look at that marvelous tree,” he said, “It’s full of yummy apples.” He picked an apple and took a big juicy bite. He put the apple in his pocket to bring back home.
Meanwhile, the eagle was still watching him.
A little while later, the fox spotted some beautiful flowers. “Oh look at those beautiful flowers,” he said. He picked a bunch to bring back home.
And still, the eagle watched him.
Finally, the fox arrived home. He put the rabbit outside to went to get the rest of his ingredients. "What a fine stew this rabbit will make," he said. He took carrots, onion, and garlic from his shed. Then he went back outside to get the rabbit.
All of a sudden the eagle swooped in and snatched the rabbit from where it was laying. The eagle said, "You should be more careful you silly fox!" And so the fox had vegetable stew for dinner that night.
Moral: Be aware of all your surroundings.
Once long ago on the great plains there lived a goat family. They were having a merry old time grazing in the grassland until one day a hungry gray fox showed up. The hungry fox eyed the family and said to himself, “That baby goat looks pretty tasty.”
The fox approached the goats and said, “What a beautiful little goat I see there.”
“Why thank you,'' said the mother goat.
Then the fox said, “May I take your child on a walk. The baby might get some exercise?”
So the fox and the baby goat walked off and as soon as the mother goat was out of sight the fox quickly gobbled up the goat and ran off.
Later the mother goat was looking for her child when she came across the fox and asked, “Where is my child ?”
The fox told what happened and said, “Don’t believe everything you are told.” And scampered off into the forest.

THE CAT AND THE LIZARD
By Elif
Once not long ago lived a cat who’s name was Socks. She was a ferocious lizard hunter. There once was an old, feeble lizard. One day the cat saw the lizard walking over the dry desert floor, so she seized the lizard. “Oh please cat! Please let me go,” begged the lizard. “I promise I shall repay your kindness in the future.”
“BAHAHAHAH!” the cat howled with evil laughter. Inside the cat was thinking and wondering how could such a small, and weak creature help her.
The lizard stared up at the cat, shaking with fear.
“Very well you funny feeble creature,” said the cat. “You may go but you must help me in the future as you have promised.”
The next morning the lizard woke up to helpless cries. It was the cat. “HELP! HELP! Won’t somebody help me!” she screamed.
The lizard spotted the cat stuck in the cat door made out of wood and a picture of a cat on the outside painted with pink paint. The lizard got all of his friends and they all pushed from the sides that were stuck and pushed against the sides of the kitty doorway. The cat was sweating with fear, “What if I’m trapped here forever... what if I starve to death?” he moaned.
After some time of hard work the cat was free! “Thank you for helping me,” she smiled. “It sure was a happy surprise.” The lizard was actually relieved that she wasn’t eaten up.
Moral: Treat others the way you want to be treated.
The Crow and the Hungry Fox
By Mrs. McKelvey
Once far away and long ago, a crow sat on her nest in a tree. Underneath her were four large eggs. Along came a hungry fox. He looked up at the crow. “What a marvelous creature I see above me,” he said. Licking his lips he thought, “How can I get the crow’s eggs?”
The fox stood at the base of the tree and bowed to the crow. “What exquisite feathers you have,” he said, "I’m sure your chicks will be just as fine as you.” The crow was flattered at the fox’s compliments.
“My chicks will certainly be as beautiful as me,” the crow bragged. “And not only will they be as beautiful but also as graceful as me in flight.”
Just then the crow proudly flapped and moved her wings gracefully, and spun around.
“Graceful you say,” said the fox. He stepped back and looked up again. Now being the sly fox he was he pleaded, “Please, oh, please show me your graceful moves in the air. It must make for quite a sight.”
The crow was once again flattered by the fox. Quickly she took to the air. She dove, glided, and twirled. It was the most graceful dance in the sky.
So busy was she showing off her graceful moves that she didn’t see the fox climb up the tree. Between each bite of her eggs, he grinned and shouted, “Perhaps, madam you shouldn’t count on something before it happens.”
