CALEB MONTGOMERY

Hi! I'm Bert the Beagle!
Today, I'm going to take YOU on a trip around the world, teaching you about world beliefs! Over there is my hot-air balloon! It'll take us anywhere we want!

Hop on, let's go! Our first stop on our trip is going to be China, those are where our first belief that we will talk about today began!

The first belief we'll talk about is Confucianism. Confucianism was founded by a man named Kong Fuzi, who was later called Confucius. It was founded in China, during 551-479 BC. That's really old!

People who follow Confucianism have writings that they hold as holy and sacred. These writings are called Lun Yu. That writing looks so cool!

This is a Confucian temple, called a Kong Maio, where Confucius is worshipped in spirit.
The followers of Confucianism follow the teachings of Confucius, they are mostly based on relationships, here are some of them!

The Silver Rule-Do to others what you'd want them to do to you.
Relationships: Ruler/Subject, Father/Son, Older Sibling/Younger Sibling, Friend/Friend, Husband/Wife.
REN-Benevolence.
YI-Doing your best, loyalty.
ZHI-Knowledge.
XIN-Faithfulness, integrity.
LI-Correct behavior, good manners.
There are also fancy words for five special virtues of Confucianism, aren't they cool names?

This is a symbol used to represent Confucianism!

Let's get back into our balloon and head to the next destination! We're going to a country near China. Japan! We're going to talk about Shintoism!

Here we are at Mount Fuji, in Japan! Shintoism began in ancient Japan, and it doesn't have any sacred writings, and it doesn't have one founder either! Mysterious, right?

Followers of Shintoism worship Kami at these Shinto shrines. Kami are said to be sacred nature spirits. A Shinto shrine is also used as a symbol to represent Shintoism!

These are the main beliefs of Shintoism, take a look at them while I go try to climb this cool shrine! Weeee~
-Humans are good in nature.
-All evil is caused by evil spirits.
-Worshipping Kami keeps evil spirits away.

Wow! That shrine was harder to climb than I thought! Alrighty, our next spot is in the Middle East, We're taking a look at Islam.

Here we are! We're in the city of Jerusalem, which is a huge site for the religion of Islam. Islam was founded by a man named Muhammad in the 7th century AD, originally in a place called Mecca! Near here, there's a really cool place that's important to Islam, let's go see it!

This is called the Dome of The Rock. It's a mosque, a mosque is a place where followers of Islam worship the god they believe in, who they call Allah. Look at that dome, so shiny and golden!
