* Phil was born on February 24, 1938, in Portland Oregon. 

* As Phil was growing up his mom never worked but his dad originally worked as a lawyer then changed to a newspaper artist. 

* Phil is not an only child he has two sisters named Joanne and Jeanne.

* Growing up Phil was very good at running, especially for his highschool team where he played a key part on the track team. He later on also played a key part to the University of Oregon's track team. 

Educational Background

* Phil had always been pretty smart even from a young age which helped him do well in school. 

* His smarts helped him get into the University of Oregan for college, he later switched to Stanford University.

* He ended up graduating from Stanford with a masters in business administration which helped him start his own business that is now know as Nike.
