Bella the lady bug was flying around one sunny day when she found a funny round bump on a leaf.

"What is this?" she asked herself. She had never seen anything like this before.

All of a sudden the bump opened up and out crawled a tiny caterpillar. The bump was an egg and it hatched a tiny caterpillar called a larva.

"Hello friend" Bella said. "My name is Bella, what is your name?" she asked. 

"My name is Henry" the caterpillar replied. "Can you help me find some yummy leaves to eat? I am very hungry" he asked Bella.

Bella helped Henry find lots of nice green leaves to eat. Bella and Henry quickly became best friends. Day after day they spent all their time finding leaves for Henry to eat.

Henry ate a lot and the more he ate the more he grew. Before he knew it he was even bigger than Bella!

One day Bella went to find Henry at their meeting spot, but he was not there. She looked everywhere for him but she could not find him anywhere.

Although Bella did not find her friend Henry she did find something interesting. Bella did not know what it was. She had never seen anything like this weird green thing that was hanging under the leaf.

As Bella got closer to it the thing began to move and shake. She realized that whatever it was the thing was alive!

“Excuse me” she asked, “have you seen my friend Henry the caterpillar? I can not find him anywhere”. The thing did not say anything it just continued to move and shake.

Bella was so upset she did not understand why this thing would not help her. She began to fear she would never see her friend Henry again.

Every day Bella came back to try and find her friend but every time all she found was the weird green thing hanging under the leaf.
