Antonio is stressed and his friends try to figure out why. Bassanio falls in love with Portia. Shylock lends money to Bassanio, but Antonio must give a pound of flesh if he can't pay it back. Portia has suitors choose a chest to marry her. Lorenzo and Jessica plan to escape. The court case between Antonio and Shylock ends with mercy prevailing. Everyone lives happily ever after.
