My story, The Taste of Summer, came from a journal entry I made about my Grandmother's griddle cakes. I had written a description of those griddle cakes and stated they were the taste of summer at Grandma's house. It made me think of all the fruit and vegetables grown around her home and the happy memories my siblings and I had spending weeks at her home in the summer months. I wanted to honor my grandmother with my story.
