Howard Carter was an Archaeologist and Egyptologist.
He traveled to Egypt to look for King Tutankhamen's lost tomb.

The place to look was in the desert nearly 300 miles south of the
city of Cairo. It was known
as the "Valley of the Kings".

Mr. Carter knew that this
valley was the right place.
It had been searched for centuries and more than 60 Pharaohs tombs had been discovered there.

Carter searched and searched but
he could not find King Tut's tomb.
He looked for six long years in the hot desert sun until his money was almost gone and he was about to give up.

Then one day in 1922 his
water boy stumbled on the top
step of a hidden staircase buried
in the valley floor.
It led down to a stone door blocking a secret chamber.
Could this be King Tut's tomb?
