Digital citizenship is more important now than ever before. Anyone who has a digital profile should know how to navigate the web safely and effectively. This book will show you positive ways in which you can be a responsible digital citizen!

According to the International Society for Technology in Education, there are THREE things to always remember when thinking of digital citizenship. They are Respect, Educate, and Protect, or REP!
Respect Yourself & Others
Netiquette, Access, Law
Educate Yourself & Others
Literacy, Communication, Commerce
Protect Yourself & Others
Rights & Responsibilities; Security; Health & Wellness
Remember that just because you have access to something does not mean your peers do. Equitable access to technology and Internet has become a driving force behind several initiatives in America. If you are fortunate enough to have both of these luxuries, help those out around you who may not have them.
While access to technology is a good thing, it also brings challenges. Online predators who are working to steal your information are always just a click away. You should keep your passwords and information safe so that they cannot take your information without your permission. Be sure you are respecting others' work, as well. Never take information without permission. This doesn't just have to be passwords and personal identification. You also have to have permission to take someone's written work and creations. Doing so without their permission is a copyright infringement and is against the law.
You should always educate your friends and those around you about digital citizenship, once you feel comfortable. Oftentimes, children, teens, and young adults do not realize the dangers that can be lurking online.
Keep in mind that not everything you read online is correct and there are times when people fictitiously publish false information to persuade someone to think a certain way. Double checking anything you read to see if it is a truthful article from a reliable source is always a good idea.
Using technology in different situations calls for knowing how to respond appropriately in each setting. Keep in mind that the way you text your friends should not be the same way you email your teacher.
