Make sure your lessons support the academic success of students across all racial, cultural, and ethnic groups. Draw on the strengths of each culture in your room when creating lessons.

is for content integration.

Be sure to use examples from a variety of cultural groups when illustrating key principles, concepts, and ideas. These examples should be integrated naturally, not in a contrived manner. Some subjects, like English, lend themselves more naturally to this integration, but all educators should try to make sure students are given examples that utilize a variety of cultures.
is for empowering school culture and social structure.

The initiative to be equitable should be school-wide! The social system that is the school must be examined by ALL staff members to ensure that students of all cultures, ethnicities, races, and genders are being treated equally. This includes making sports teams more equitable and taking note of any "ethnic turfs" that exist when students are outside of the classroom (i.e. at lunch).
