Gait One: The Walk
The walk is a four beat gait and is the slowest of all off them. Horses can do a fast walk and a slow walk although different horses have different preferences of the speed they want to go. Beginners and professionals alike, they spend most of their time riding in walk. The walk is also the easiest to ride through.

Gait Two: Trot
The trot (or the jog) is a two beat gait. The trot can be sat or posted. Western riders prefer sitting while english rider have mastered both. The trot is the second slowest gait and can be achived by walking to trotting or from canter to trot.
