Hi, my name is Kaydn and I started my business, Shell be Right, as an eight year old homeschooler.  

I have been learning to become a boy of business and a boy of the land turning eggshells into plant love and making garden labels.

In term three, 2021, I returned to school, but I still do my business.

My eggshell range includes:

Why Eggshell Powder?

Materials and Equipment

eggshells - I get these from a local Port Hedland Café

1 teaspoon of vinegar to one litre of water (a rinse)

1 straw cleaner

1 oven tray

1 coffee grinder

1 jug

baking paper (you can reuse heaps)

clean and dry jars - different sizes are fine

funnel 

egg cartons

People ask me, "Kaydn, how do you clean the eggs and make them safe for our gardens"?

(if you don't clean/dry out the eggs you can breed germs and bacteria)

cleaning out the membrane which I use a straw cleaner for

I place the eggshells into a diluted vinegar wash

to help kill some bacteria

with mum's help I drain onto an oven tray and place in the oven at 200 degrees for around an hour (normally after a roast so we don't use more energy/electricity than we need to

the eggshells are crushed more and then added to a grinder and depending on the product, either finely or roughly grinded
