All students in Mrs. Brown's 5th grade class were asked to choose any book within their reading level at the school library to read for their book report. Most of the students were excited to choose their own books, and chatted about the fun. novels they'd found in the stacks. However, Jason was not. He shuffled about with his hands in his pockets, eyeing the rows of book spines with slight disdain and reluctance.

Ms. Topolski, the librarian, approached him with the intent to help. "Are you having trouble finding a book, Jason?" Jason was honest, "Yes," he said. "Well, what sorts of books have you read in the past?" the librarian asked. "None," Jason replied, "I don't know which book to choose. I don't like reading. I'm not good at it." Ms. Topolski asked Jason why he felt that way, to which Jason replied, "I don't like stories. They're boring." She made a mental note of this fact. She tells him to add the word "yet" to the phrase, "I don't like reading."
