Jimmy Valentine was working in a prison shoe-shop when an officer came to take Valentine to the prison office. Jimmy was then given a paper stating that he was free to leave.

Exposition

Valentine meets with a man named Mike Dolan. they go to Valentine's apartment where he uncovers his safe-cracking tools.

Rising Action

We learn that Valentine has gone back to cracking open safes and stealing money. An officer named Ben Price catches on to what he is doing. Valentine goes to The Elmore Bank, but he is stopped in his tracks when he meets Annabel Adams.
