The war in Ukraine is a devastating war and we should all take a moment to wish Ukraine luck.

The Russo Ukrainian war started on February 20th, 2014, and is still ongoing, however how did the war start in the first place? It was caused because Russia annexed a region in Ukraine called Crimea and the Donbass region however it wasn't a full war and only saw minor battles until 8 years and 4 days later. 

 Vladmir Putin the Russian president announced his "Special military operation "And invaded Ukraine on February 24th, 2022, following the attack the Donetsk People's Republic was formed in easter Ukraine as well as the Luhansk People's Republic. Also following the attack NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) began supplying Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy the Ukranian president made speeches protesting against Russia.

 More than 7,536,433 people fled Ukraine by September 30th, 2022. After Russia Invaded Ukraine many news channels begun talking about the invasion. An estimated of 100,000 Russian troops marched toward Kyiv the Ukranian capital, they also deployed 10,000 in Crimea, and 700,000 Ukranian forces in Ukraine got ready.

 The Battle of Kyiv lasted 1 month and 6 days and resulted in Ukranian victory this gave inspiration to many soldiers as they pushed the Russian forces to the border. On April 2nd, the areas around Kyiv were officially Ukranian again, during this many sanctions were placed on Russia this caused their Economy to fall apart slowly. (A sanction is a punishment on a country for declaring war on them or another country, it bans certain resources that the invader can use.) 

Belarus, A country founded in 1991 has had the same president for all of its existence, when an election is held, he always wins even though people don't vote for him. Many people say he cheats, the last election caused many protests. Belarus has been a Russian ally since 1991, And been supplying Russia after the war started, However the possibility of them being invaded are slim to none. Fighting continued in the Donbass and Crimea until the beginning of August when a huge stale mate began and ended on September 3rd. When Ukraine launched a counter offensive taking the northeast from Russia, soon after Russia annexed 4 Ukranian oblasts.

Again, and again stalemates keep occurring, it seems as if Russia forgot about the war, We will have to wait if the front line moves for now.

Vladimir Putin was born on October 7th, 1952, he was a spy in the KGB until 1991 when the Soviet Union fell apart and became the Russian Federation, because of his ideas to reunite the Soviet Union he became the president of Russia from 2000-2008 and 2012-present.    

Volodymyr Zelensky was born on January 25th, 1978, he was a well know actor until he decided to run for president and won because of his popularity in 2019.
