In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth. The Earth was formless, and darkness covered the waters. Then God said, ''Let there be light.'' And, miraculously there was light!
God called the light, 'day,' and the darkness, 'night.' And that was the world's first day!

Then God said, ''Let the land be separated from the waters. Let the land sprout with every sort of seed-bearing plant, trees- all plants.'' And so it was.
Next, God said, ''Let the waters swarm with fish and other life.'' He also made animals.
God made everything.

Next, God needed someone to take care of the land and the seas. So, God said: ''Let me make human, a Man for taking care of the land and seas.'' God called the man, Adam, and Adam named all of the animals. But Adam was lonely, so God said: ''Let the man have a companion, a woman, for she was taken from man.'' So God made woman, and Adam called her, Eve. God told them they may have any fruit in the garden he had made for them but not the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. So God made Adam and Eve. Now, Adam and Eve were naked. But they felt no shame.

Now, the serpent was one of the most clever animals God had made. One day, the serpent slithered to Eve and asked her, ''Did God really say you may not eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil?''
Eve replied, ''God said that we may eat any tree but the Tree of Knowledge, for we should surely die.''
The serpent replied, ''You wouldn't surely die. God just doesn't want you to eat the tree, for if you do, you'll become like God.''
Eve, influenced by the serpent, gazed at the tree that was forbidden and saw it was Good.
After Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the forbidden tree, they realized they were naked. So they took leaves and sewed them for clothes.
