One day, my mom told me I would be going to
Kindergarten for the first time. When she told me I
had no idea what to expect. I didn't know what I
was going to wear or even where to go.

My mom was running around the house
grabbing stuff for my lunch and all the
things i would need throughout the day.

She started helping me change clothes
for the day and i thought i looked pretty
good. There was one little problem
though, my mom handed me shoes with
laces. I've always worn shoes with
velcro straps.

Before I had time to tell her I didn't
know how to tie my shoes she was
pushing me out the door to the big
yellow bus waiting at my door.

When i stepped onto the bus, my shoes
were still untied and all the kids were
staring at me. I was so scared. I just
wanted to run down the steps and stay
home with my mom.

It was too late for me to turn around
because the bus driver had already shut
the doors and asked me to take a seat.
I did what I was told and sat by myself
at the front of the bus.

I felt like everyone was staring at me, even though
they weren't. I still hadn't figured out how to tie
my shoes. When the bus pulled up to the school a
teacher came up to me. She asked me if i was new
and I told her yes.

She asked me what grade I was in and I
told her Kindergarten. For some reason
she got a big smile across her face and
told me i was to follow her.

When we finally got to the end of the
long hallway she walked into a big room
and told me to come with her. I had no
idea why she wanted me to, but I did
what i was told.
