Pancake yawned and stretched. He was wide awake! He had been born recently, but was ready to play! Pancake and his brothers and sisters all scurried about, ready to play too. Pancake meowed to them as if saying farewell, and then walked over, stumbling every once in a while, to the toy mouse. Pancake took a step back, took a pouncing position, wiggled his bottom, flicked his tail, and pounced! He landed right on top of the mouse. The noise made Pancake jump. But his curiosity got the better of him.
Soon Pancake grew hungry. He ran over to his food bowl. One of his brothers and sisters had wandered outside, and was eating something strange out there. Pancake's owner closed the door after bringing his brother inside. Pancake meowed at him as if to say, 'don't go out there! It's dangerous!' Pancake gobbled up his food, and then gulped up most (not all) of his water.
Another cat, Snowball, began play fighting with Pancake. Pancake mewed and jumped at Snowball. Snowball won, but gave Pancake a lick to make sure he knew that he had done well, too. Snowball and Pancake climbed to the top of the couch and sat there like the king of the world! Then Pancake got bored and he and Snowball decided to take a nap.
Pancake sat down on a rug and his vision blurred. He could tell he was tired, but something was going on! Pancake could just barely make out his owners running around, shouting and reaching for the door. Pancake saw orange light flickering every where, but he got to tired to stay awake. He lay his head down for a nap.
