Learning Centers

Learning Centers are stations spread across a classroom, or in our case a gym, that allow students to break into groups and fully immerse themselves in different activities for a set amount of time.

This strategy can be used in physical education by setting up different stations around the gym and splitting students into different groups. The stations can be different types of physical activities like jump rope, dribbling, or even push ups/sit ups.
Guided Discovery

Guided discovery is a teaching strategy that allows the students to figure out the task given on their own with limited help from the teacher.

Guided discovery could be used in physical education by giving students a task with no specific instruction and then allowing them to figure out the task on their own.

Brainstorming

Brainstorming is when a teacher encourages a group of students to come up with a solution to a given problem or question.

Brainstorming can be used in physical education by giving students a physical challenge and seeing how they find a way to do the challenge.

Direct Instruction

Direct instruction is when an instructor tells the group of students exactly what they are going to do in the lesson and works with the directly.

Direct instruction can be used in physical education by instead of giving a task for students to do and releasing them, give students tasks to do while going through the motions of it.

Cooperative Learning

Cooperative learning is a learning style that involves the students learning from one another instead of a teacher explicitly showing them instruction.
