Rationale

Emmanuela and the magical tree is a children's Literature text for children ages 8-11, that is geared toward promoting and encouraging children to eat healthy. This book is also aimed at promoting vocabulary, language skills, entertainment and fun learning experiences.

 Emmanuel and The Magical Tree

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Emmanuela. She loved to play outside with her friends, but she always felt tired and weak.

One day when she was playing with her friends, her father, who was a farmer said, “ Emmanuela, you need to start eating healthy foods to feel strong and energised.”

Emmanuela replied “ Dad, healthy foods always taste horrible.”

"No Emmanuela, not all healthy foods taste horrible. Here, take this red, juicy, nutritious apple," said the dad. 

Later that evening, Emmanuela was playing with her ball in the woods when she stumbled upon a magical fruit tree. 

While playing, she kicked the ball in the direction of the tree and it came to a stop at the root of the tree. Emmanuela's eyes widened in amazement as she approached the tree.

The closer she got to the tree, the more the tree seemed to glow and she had never seen such a beautiful tree. Little did Emmanuela know she was in for a big surprise.

Emmanuela heard a voice whispered “Hello little one, do you want to feel healthy and strong?” 

She looked around in confusion, wondering where the voice was coming from. 

Emmanuela then realized that it was the tree itself speaking to her. 

She quickly responded “Yes! Yes! I want to feel healthy and strong.”

The tree replied, “Well, in that case little one, answer this riddle and you will get to see something magical happen.” 

Emmanuela confidently said, “ I’m ready!” 

 "I am a yellow fruit that you might eat at lunch, when there’s a group of me, we are known as a bunch. What am i?” 

Emmanuela repeated the riddle twice in her head before screaming, “Banana!”
