This story is about a boy named Paul who will be whisked into an amazing adventure. On his adventure he has one task: to protect the mythical  Power Crystal of Catherine The Curious from being stolen by a villain named Edward The Evil who would use the powerful crystal to take over a place called Happyland. 

Meet Paul Loveworth: Paul lives in Happyland. He lives with his mother, Anne, his father, William, and his two sisters, Holly and Ellen. The Loveworth family lives on 267 Sunflower Drive. They have lived a happy and ordinary life in Happyland. Paul's father is a member of the Happyland High Council. Paul's mother worked as a school teacher.

Paul had always loved hunting for things since he was young. One day, he was searching the attic of his home on 267 Sunflower Drive. He was playing a scavenger hunt with his whole family: his mother, father and his two sisters. During the scavenger hunt, Ellen and Paul found a mysterious map in the attic's darkest corner. Paul asked,"Dad and mom, what is this map doing in our attic?"

Paul's father said, "Uh oh! Anne! Paul found your family's map!" Paul's mother momentarily  rushed over to see what was happening with the map. Paul's mother told every child in the Loveworth house never to tell anyone about the map. She said,"This map belonged to my great- grandmother, Catherine The Curious . She was the person who discovered the  Power Crystal that was named after her in the Grand Caverns far away from Happyland. It is believed the Grand Caverns are located in the Dark Forest."

"The reason why I don't want you to tell anyone is that for years there have been spies working for a villain called Edward The Evil. The crystal holds the power to create any object or organism in any type of form. Edward wants the crystal so he can use its powers for evil in order to take over Happyland. There are spies everywhere so don't tell anyone,"said Paul's mom.

Unfortunately  for the Loveworth  family, they did not know that their  next-door neighbor was a spy. Her name was Mrs. Sweet but she was not at all sweet. She was a rude old woman and people did not like to be around her. She spent most of her time spying on people, looking for clues of the Power Crystal of Catherine The Curious for Edward The Evil, listening to the Loveworth family's constant racket, or watering her flowers. Mrs. Sweet had lived next to the Loveworth family for 13 years and the map was under her nose the entire time. When she saw the map through the Loveworths' attic window she knew she had to act fast.

Mrs. Sweet told Edward The Evil her master plan. She was to accompany Paul on a journey and pretend to be nice during the  trip. Edward the Evil would wait for them at the cave where Mrs. Sweet would give the diamond to Edward The Evil and he would take over Happyland. It was a master plan.

Perfect Plan Mrs. Sweet! If this succeeds, I will double your pay and take over all of Happyland!

Later that day, Paul says,"Mom, can I go on an adventure to find the crystal?" Paul's Mom says" No honey. You need an adult to come with you. But we will have to wait because it is a long journey and I can't leave my students at school."  " I can't leave the City Council until my schedule is cleared. We have weeks worth of meetings," says Paul's dad,  "Everyone, Let's go! We are going on a family walk!" Mrs. Sweet could hear everything out from the opened door. During the walk, they passed Mrs. Sweet's flower garden. Mrs. Sweet speaks very softly and says," I could not help but overhear what you were saying. All I could hear was that Paul wants to go on an adventure ,but, he needs an adult.

"Thanks," says Paul's mother,"But we have a time planned for an adventure to the caverns in a few weeks." Paul groans, "Mom, why can't I go with Mrs.Sweet?"  Mrs.Sweet chimes in and says, " You won't have to worry about him. When I was his age, I would go on adventures even more dangerous than the adventure that Paul wants to go on.  When I came back I was completely fine!" Paul's parents believed Mrs.Sweet's lie. " Alright", says Paul's mom at the house later that evening, "Your father and I have decided that you and Mrs.Sweet will begin your journey this upcoming Saturday."

All week at school, Paul was thinking," Saturday! Saturday!, Saturday! "   Eventually, Saturday came.

 Since Paul lived on the outskirts of Happyland he and Mrs. Sweet would have to navigate through the Snowing Beauty Mountains and around the Great Rumble Volcano in order to reach the Dark Forest. Before the journey Paul and Mrs. Sweet prepared for what they might face on the way to the Grand Caverns. Both of them packed up the following items: 4 tops and 4 pairs of pants, a sleeping bag, rope, matches, the map, and snacks for a 4 day trip. They placed all of the items in their knapsacks.

A lot happened on the journey to the Grand Caverns. First, Paul and Mrs. Sweet had to work together in order to climb the Snowing Beauty mountains. Mrs. Sweet shouted over the howling wind," Quickly tie a knot at the peak and then we will use our arms, legs, and rope to climb to the top!" Paul tied the knot and he and Mrs. Sweet climbed to the top slowly and carefully. It was a very dangerous process. If one of them fell, it would be over for them.

After the dangerous mountain climbing, there were still many more challenging obstacles ahead. The next obstacle was to safely navigate the Great Rumble Volcano. It was just so unlucky for Paul and Mrs. Sweet that day because they remembered that the volcano erupted recently. In order to reach the Dark Forest, they would have to cross a river of lava. But Paul was lucky enough to spot an old wooden plank from the ruins of an old bridge. Paul also observed that there were two stones along the narrow part of the lava stream. He alerted Mrs. Sweet about his discovery and said,"Mrs. Sweet, please help me lift up the heavy wooden plank and place it on the two stones by the lava stream. Then we will carefully cross it."

It was a scary task because lava was below their feet

and some of the wooden planks were slowly catching

on fire.

After the dangerous lava crossing feat at The Great Rumble Volcano, Paul and Mrs. Sweet eventually made it to the Dark Forest. Mrs. Sweet said," Oh my! It is getting late!" They ate some of their food rations and read a book about the Power Crystal. Mrs. Sweet read," Many years ago, an explorer named Catherine The Curious discovered a power crystal inside the Grand Caverns. According to Catherine, the crystal had the power to create or transform any living being or object into anything the person holding it wanted. That is why the crystal  was hidden even deeper into the caverns by Catherine so that it would not fall into the wrong hands. The crystal was then named The  Power Crystal of Catherine The Curious after her. Rumor has it that Catherine's last living descendants have the map to find the crystal."

"That is all for tonight, Paul! It is getting late and we have a long journey ahead in the morning,"said Mrs.Sweet. Paul was exhausted and curled up into his sleeping bag. "Good night Mrs.Sweet. I will see you in the morning," Paul said mid-yawn. Unfortunately for Paul, he could not sleep. But at the same time that gave him luck. He saw Mrs.Sweet on a walkie-talkie saying,"Edward, I am on the journey with the boy. He has no idea I am a spy for you. We expect to arrive at the cave tomorrow. When I come I will get that crystal from the boy and then you can use it." Edward said,"Alright I will see you tomorrow."  Mrs. Sweet checked to make sure Paul was asleep and not listening. Paul could not believe Mrs. Sweet was a spy.
