For as long as he could remember, Seymour
had loved his mama. And Seymour knew that
mama loved him!

Seymour also loved his many brothers and
sisters! They played and got into mischief and
grew bigger together everyday.

Seymour and his brother Simon got into the
most mischief and often went wandering into
the woods together.

One day while exploring, the brothers met
O'Malley the Opossum. O'Malley laughed and
laughed. "What is a cat doing wandering around
with a skunk?" he cried.

"What's a skunk?" said Seymour confused.
O'Malley laughed even harder, "you are a skunk my
dear smelly lad!"

"I am no skunk," said Seymour. "I am a cat
just like my mother!" The brothers scampered
away from O'Malley as quickly as possible.

Just then bear cub jumped out
from behind a big bush, "gotcha!"
he said. Seymour was surprised,
"bear cub why did you scare me?"
"I wanted to see if you would
spray me, mama says all skunks
spray when they are surprised."
There was that strange word
again, skunk. Why did everyone
call him a skunk and what was a
spray anyhow?

"Where are ya going so fast?" said bear cub. He
was worried he had hurt Seymour's feelings, but it
was too late Seymour was already halfway home.

"I am a cat, right Simon?" said Seymour. "Of course you
are, my brother from the start!" "Brother?" Came a loud
booming voice. "You think a cat is your brother," said the
bouncing golden dog. "Well...yes..." said Seymour
stammering and frustrated.

"Well, then I must be a golden lion on the hunt for
some dinner,"dog rolled on the ground laughing and
soon he disappeared over the hill. Seymour wanted
to get home as soon as he could.

They were in such a hurry to get home that they
bumped right into a young deer. "Hi there young
skunk!" she said cheerfully. "I am no skunk," said
Seymour growing more and more upset.

Young deer hadn't meant to hurt Seymour's
feelings. "I'm sorry!" she called out as Seymour
skittered away.

Seymour was about to turn to run home and cry when he
heard laughter coming from behind him. He turned to see
the four bully brothers heading his way.

The bully brothers were already busy being mean when they
walked up. "A cat, you think your a cat? Haha, what a lovely
cat you are Seymour, haha," they teased. Seymour could feel
tears welling up in his eyes. Before a tear could fall Seymour
took off toward home, Simon close behind him.

were rolling on the ground in laughter as the
brothers hurried home.

"I am sorry Seymour," said Simon. "I believe
you are a cat." "How can I be a cat and fit into
the family, I do not look or even smell the
same," said Seymour and he buried his head in
sadness.
