Chapter 1
When the narrator was six, he made a drawing of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. When he showed it to the grown-ups, he asked them if the drawing scared them. They thought it was a drawing of a hat and not scary at all. The narrator then drew drawing number two which showed the inside of the boa constrictor.
Drawing by Helen and Mary

GREECE
The grown-ups told him to concentrate on his lessons. He learnt how to fly a plane and travelled to a lot of countries. Every time he saw a grown-up, he would show them his drawing number one and the grown-up would always say it was a hat. Then, he wouldn't talk about boa constrictors anymore. It seems that when people grow up, they lose interest in nature and are more interested in grammar, history and arithmetic.
However, the environment needs our attention and our protection.

Chapter 2
The narrator, who was a pilot, crash - landed his aeroplane in the desert. In the morning, he heard a strange voice asking him to draw a sheep, he saw a strange little person. The pilot asked him what he was doing there but he insisted on drawing him a sheep. So, the pilot drew him a sheep. The strange little person said he wanted a sheep that would live a long time. The pilot then drew a crate and told him the sheep was inside it. The little prince asked him if it would need a lot of grass because where he lives everything is very small. The narrator told him it’s a very small sheep and the little prince was happy. This is how the narrator met the little prince.

GREECE
The little prince considers the sheep’s need for grass and a long life and makes us think about the issue of sustainability and the need for resources that can support life over a longer period. We should always consider the impact of farm animals on the environment. Farming is a major factor for deforestation and climate change.

Chapter 3
The Little Prince sees the pilot’s plane and asks what that object is. He jokes that the pilot must have fallen from the sky and he’s impressed by this object.
This implies that people are often impressed by technology and forget about nature.

The Little Prince asks the pilot to draw a sheep for him and then they start talking about this drawing that is a treasure to him. The narrator suggests tying up the sheep so it doesn’t get lost, but the Little Prince doesn’t like this idea, it shocks him. He says the place he comes from is very small and the sheep couldn’t go very far. This reminds us that we should protect our planet, treat animals with respect and allow them to be free, as they are our planet’s treasure.

Chapter 4
The pilot comes to the conclusion that The Little Prince comes from Asteroid B-612, which was discovered by a Turkish astronomer in 1909. The astronomer had to wear an elegant suit to make people accept his discovery, as the first time he tried to demonstrate his discovery, he failed to make people believe him because he was dressed in Turkish clothes.

This chapter reminds us that every place is important regardless of its size and the children can save the planet, as they care about the important things, they have a great imagination and they believe in the value of friendship as a guide in their lives.

Chapter 5
Baobabs are huge trees that grow everywhere and can take over a whole planet. To prevent this, the Little Prince wakes up every morning and uproots the little baobab trees with all the other harmful plants that can harm his planet. The Little Prince asks the narrator to draw him a picture to warn others about the harm those huge trees can cause.
The baobab trees represent the bad habits humans have which cause harm to our planet. The little prince teaches us to be active and to protect the planet from harm. People should stop bad habits and follow his example.

Chapter 6
The two friends are chatting about sunsets and how the sun sets and creates this beautiful image in the sky. The little Prince mentions while chatting, that it's nice to see a sunset when you are sad. and on his planet we can see as many sunsets as we want, whenever we want as long as we move our chair. In fact, once the little prince saw 44 sunsets! He must have been very sad ... It is important to appreciate and protect nature because we are connected with nature and it gives us joy and comfort.

"Serious matters? ...You talk just like grown-ups!" “If someone loves a flower … But if the sheep eats the flower… all of a sudden all the stars went dark! And you think that is not important!"
The Little Prince is trying to know what the sheep can do to his flower but the pilot is busy with the engine of his plane.

ITALY
At first, the pilot is an example of all the adults who are so busy with their affairs that don’t care about environment, but the Little Prince makes him understand that every little thing deserves our love and protection and we must act before we loose it.
The rose symbolizes nature and its weakness, the little Prince, with his attention and care for the rose, symbolizes the responsability towards nature: we must protect our environment as the little prince protects his rose, because nature is capable of self-protection, but its defences aren’t enough.

Chapter 8
The little prince... sensed that this could well lead to a miraculous apparition must emerge…
“One must admire them (the flowers) and breathe their fragrance. Mine perfumed all my planet, but I did not know how to enjoy her.”
The growth of his flower is for the little Prince a miracle, a miracle that perfumes all his planet, and now that he has gone he misses it.

ITALY
The rose represents the flora of our planet with its beauty. Everything it asks corresponds to the needs of our environment. The Little Prince treats his rose with love and respect, he tries to satisfy all its need.
We should do the same, we should take care of all the beauty and all the needs of our environment, but, very often, we don’t do it. We should take care of all the grace of nature before it is too late.
Summarized by Zappulla M., Vincenzo A., Marco B., Corrado, Paolo, written in English by Alessandro, Mattia, Ascanio and Leandro.

ITALY
On the morning of his departure, he put his planet in perfect order. He carefully swept his active volcanoes, … he tore up, not without a sense of sorrow, the last little baobab shoots… he watered the flower and prepared to place her under her glass dome.
“Of course, I love you” the flower said to him.
Before leaving, the little prince takes care of his planet to leave everything in order, he is very responsible. Baobab shoots represent all the bad things that can be a danger to the environment.
Chapter 9

Drawing by Alessandra and Giorgia Di.
ITALY
The little prince has a solution to this problem. By tearing up the baobab shoots, he prevents them from choking the planet as they grow.
In the same way, if we correct bad actions immediately we can avoid causing problems to the environment. If we love nature as the Little Prince does, nature will love us just like his rose does.

Chapter 10
“Over what do you rule? – Over everything”
"If I ordered a general to change himself into a seabird, and if the general did not obey me, that would not be the fault of the general. It would be my fault."
In this sentence, it is written that if you want too much from another and he is not able to do this task, it is
not his fault but ours.
The king is a character who
represents a way of thinking
that isn't very good for the
environment.

Drawingo by Irene

ITALY
He believes that he can control everything and everyone around him just like so many people do.
We are asking too much
from Earth without taking
care of the consequences
of our requests. So if the
Earth rebels it's not its fault,
but ours. No one can control
nature, its power is greater
than that of any king on
Earth. We can only wait and
look at its power and its beauty.

Chapter 11
ITALY
“Aha! Here comes an admirer!” he exclaimed as, from afar, he caught sight of the little prince. For conceited men see all other men as admirers.”
Conceited men only hear praise.
As the conceited man, a lot of people on Earth are very proud of themselves and of their work, and they want to be acclaimed for this.

But often someone forget about the consequences his work can have on environment.
Written in English by Mattia, Alessandro and Ascanio.
We must always consider the results of our acts on the world around us. Selfishness does not help.

ITALY
Chapter 12
The next planet was inhabited by a drunkard… sitting silently in front of a collection of bottles, some empty and some full.
“I am drinking… to forget… that I am ashamed… of drinking!”
The drunkard, a man who drinks a lot, can symbolize people who have bad habits. Bad habits can lead to problems for the environment. But he does not do anything to stop drinking, to improve, only tries to forget.

Drawing by Amelia, Mattia and Ascanio
ITALY
The drunkard’s shame could be that of all the men who are doing something wrong to the environment. It's like a lesson to remind us to be responsible and take care of our planet.

LITHUANIA
The fourth planet that the little prince came to belonged to the businessman who was very busy dealing with serious matters and had no time to communicate. He was counting the little golden things, the stars, which he simply owned only for himself and they made him rich. Being rich the businessman could buy more stars although he didn't need them.
People are too busy working, buying, owning. Such consumerism and materialism is a danger to our planet. Also, people spend too little time with each other, communication and feelings are not so important. The character of businessman shows that people often choose money instead of good things, they should take care of nature more and help to solve the environmental problems.

Chapter 13
LITHUANIA
When the little prince saw the businessman counting something, he thought about the flies or the bees and could not understand the man who was counting the stars and didn't care or love the stars he owned. For the boy to own means to care about. He cares about his little planet, his flower, even the extinct volcanoes.

Everyone should care about and love each other and nature. Even little things such as a small flower or a bee can make us happy.

Chapter 14
The fifth planet that the prince visited was very small but barely big enough for a lamplighter. The lamplighter's orders are to extinguish and light the lamps every minute. It represents a futile and absurd task, a routine.
However, unlike other characters, the lamplighter for the prince doesn't seem selfish, he finds a purpose in his job, though it's repetitive and maybe meaningless to others, he carries out responsibility, it's a value of purposeful work.

The lamplighter told the little prince that his job gets harder over the years because the planet goes faster and faster. He uses light a lot of times and that is an example of using too much energy in our world.
The sunsets described in this chapter remembers us about the beauty of our spectacular planet, only people are too busy to notice it.

Earlier people worked less and needed less light. Everything is rapidly changing, the problems are getting bigger as well. A faster planet's rotation is due to the global warming.

Chapter 15
In a big sixth planet the little prince meets an elderly geographer who is obsessed with collecting information about various planets but lacks a personal connection to the places he describes. He tells the boy about the rivers, seas, towns, mountains and deserts.
Although prince's planet is small, the geographer wants to know about it. This chapter reminds us that our planet is very beautiful, every country is unique and important with its nature and every living creature, we must love, care and save it.

The little prince also learns that his flower is ephermal. So he leaves the planet thinking about his rose. The main idea of this chapter is that the world, the life, the nature are wonderful, beautiful. Everything depends on our behaviour and understanding. If people continue harming nature, it will become ephermal like the rose. Thus, we must care and love everything and eveyrone around us.

Chapter 16
LITHUANIA
The seventh planet that the little prince comes to is the Earth. There live very different people, like kings, drunkards, geographers, show-offs, businessmen. The planet is old but special. Before electricity was invented, the lamplighters were working together to give the light for the six continents. The view then was amazing.
It shows that nature was clean and pretty before the man started controlling and changing it by using a lot of electricity, building more and more factories which pollute the environment and cause global warming.

The life in the North Pole and the South Pole used to be different and wonderful, too. However, now the glaciers are melting more and more because of climate change and it effects all of us. So, we all together must save and protect our nature, start recycling, reusing and changing our lifestyle.

Chapter 17
The only creature that the little prince meets in the desert in Africa is a snake which speaks in riddles.
He feels lonely here, but the snake explains him that it doesn't matter if you are surrounded by people, you can also feel lonely.
This reminds us that we must stay in connection with each other, respect, care and be friendly.
